We visited Albert Dock for the Pirate Festival, so it was extremely busy. My wife and I took our youngest son(30), his wife and their two toddlers. While we were busy, one of the party«sneaked off». We found her in Vinea with a glass of gorgeous red wine. This resulted in our deciding to try other things. My wife had a bowl of mushroom soup complete with a large basket of assorted breads. I ordered the basket of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We both enjoyed what we had but I have to say that the olive oil was rather tasteless. The soup contained more mushrooms than I have ever seen in a soup before and the various breads were wonderful. Along with this, everyone else had a different wine(I was the driver!). They reported being more than happy with all of their choices. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and the prices were extremely good.

I had a very different experience. I’ve never had Welsh Rarebit and I gave it a go. It was like cheeky bead with chutney. The chutney MADEIT. It was toasted perfectly and crunchy like toasted bread should be. My wife had the super food salad and it was HUGE! We also had pots of tea. Everything was lovely plus an unbeatable view!

I live in the US and placed an online order via the VINEA website for delivery to a friend who resides in Liverpool. The wine selection is great, the prices are right and best of all, their customer service is outstanding. I inquired via email about my order last night and first thing this morning I received an email from employee Kelly W. Kelly assured me that the pkg would be delivered today. By 9AM, US time, my friend in Liverpool sent me a facebook msg to inform me that she had received her pkg this morning from a friendly delivery person. THAT’s customer service. I highly recommend VINEA if you’re considering purchasing online. Great job, guys… I will definitely order again from you in the future. Btw, VINEA has a store located at the Albert Dock in Liverpool, UK.

Our experience of lunch at Vinea was terrible. While their wine may well be very good, their food was really terrible. 1) We ordered a Rarebit which arrived on stale, chewy, rubbery textured panini, with a little garnish on the side. The cheese was tasty, but the portion was tiny, this was the better of the two things we ordered. 2) We also ordered a chorizo, cheese and olive panini. It arrived on the same stale, chewy, rubbery panini bread. It was half the size of the serving portions you would get anywhere else, you could basically fit it into your hand(length of hand and about ½ an inch thick, if that.). When we opened it up to investigate it had one olive diced within(there was one placed on top also), 6 – 7 tiny, mini slivers of chorizo: I am not exaggerating when I describe them as such. The chorizo diameter was 2 cm and the thickness was with no exaggeration: no more than 2 mm. THIS is not what we call a chorizo panini. When even Costa Coffee’s paninis appear generous in comparison(and cheaper, too). There was very little melted cheese, you couldn’t really see it, but you could taste it. Again there was some garnish at the side. When we complained to the staff/management they didn’t really care. We told them that we would be very embarrassed to serve a sandwich/panini with so little in it, and that we were not happy. In response we heard: «That’s how we do it, we have a set amount of everything that goes in.» There was an offer of making us something else, but for one we were very hungry now and also if there is a set amount of how scrawny the filling is going to be, then no matter what we would order was likely to not going to yield satisfaction. What they should have said was : for starters: «we are really sorry.» then: «we’ll just pop into the kitchen and get you a few decent slices of chorizo to add to you panini» and: «sorry to have upset you and as a gesture of apology we’ll not charge you for your drinks /or for your sandwich.» There was ABSOLUTELYNO effort on their behalf of either serving good food, of satisfying a customer, of offering an apology or even take the issue seriously. It appeared to us that they blankly didn’t care. As I said their wine may be good, but do under no circumstances pay for food in this place. You do NOT get what you pay for. one concession: their coffee was good. We had an Americano and a Latte. £12.05, and no discount offered for the mostly empty and very stale panini.

Vinea is a wine lover’s paradise and is obviously in a sensational location for such an establishment. This place is very upmarket which suits its surroundings perfectly. They offer wines here from independent vineyards across the world which are not available commercially anywhere else and as such this place is extremely innovative and independent. This is classy and relaxing fun which attracts hundreds of people a day and it is easy to see why. Vinea has great staff and great wine even offering wine tasting sessions at a price and this is something well worth taking on indeed. The prices here may be high but you get what you pay for which is a unique experience which delivers produce of the highest calibre. On the whole a classy and unique establishment which does Liverpool proud.

Wine bar time now, and we’re back on the dock of the bay to analyse something of a hidden gem in this very touristy area of the city. Here is the place you come not only to sup the delicious nectar, but also learn all about it. Yes, it’s a venue of education as well as fun. The best combination for Monica-esque nerds like myself. You’ll be taught a lot but it won’t be in a pretentious or patronising way; rather a way that feels useful as well as interesting. The wine is obviously the star of the show, but what would a star be without a supporting cast? Nibbles are just as tasty, with some great board appetisers for groups such as cheese, meat, breads, deli snacks, olives, tomatoes, the works — everything you could think of to perfectly complement a lovely glass. But if there’s a person in your party that isn’t too keen on the humble grape, the range of unusual beers could be just the thing to tempt them. The wine tasting sessions are legendary, the music is just right, the staff are friendly and informative and it’s a great place to bring a group of friends, business clients or even a romantic partner as the atmosphere can suit both a fun, giggly outing or an intimate date. It also doubles up as a wine cellar so you can purchase some tasty gifts to take home. Now these are the kinds of souvenirs that I can get on board with.

Vinea was born on dreams. What a great motivation… the story goes… three years ago, whilst on honeymoon the owners visited vineyards in and around Napa Valley in California. After having so much fun they wanted to bring something similar to Liverpool. Aw how thoughtful! Moderately priced wines and they have a take out price which I like. They do wine tasting, next event is 5th June and then 18th June and wine courses, next one is 7th Sept. If you like to drink your wine on a boat? Well Vinea have catered for this and have teamed up with The Yellow Boat Cruise to offer a 40 minute voyage taking in the sights of Liverpool’s South Docks, followed by a relaxing three glass wine tasting at Vinea — tickets £10 — available everyday until 6pm.
