Oh Urban Outfitters, how I love thee… you are beautiful in all cities. I was so used to the Manchester offering that I was intrigued by the Liverpudlian one, and the brunette and I went on a mission to spend some gift vouchers I’d bought her. While the Manchester one is higgledy-​piggledy and decked out like a giant vintage boutique, the Liverpool branch is airier, neater and more cleanly laid out.
It gives it slightly less character to be honest, but it does make rummaging far easier and walking around a lot more pleasant during hectic sale periods. The staff are really friendly and you’ll find all the amazing, quirky clothing you’d expect from the brand with the boutique labels and gorgeous vintage items firmly in place, and the sales are unbelievable. Definitely get involved!

It doesn’t have quite the same wow factor as the Edinburgh branch but this Urban Outfitters is still pretty damn smokin’.
Set over several floors in the new Liverpool ONE area, it’s a huge store with lots of exposed brickwork, recycled wood, open shelving and old picture frames used to display key items. There’s lots of cool jeans and fun and provocative tees alongside more preppy and stylish ladies and menswear. Prices aren’t cheap but we’re talking unique dresses, tunic tops, jackets and playsuits by boutique labels like Vanessa Bruno, TBA, Best Behaviour, Carin Wester, Dolce Vita, Le Mont St Michael and Surface to Air.
If you already have the threads but want some new accessories, they sell pretty nice jewellery, scarves, belts and hats too. There’s also a growing selection of homeware, picture frames, fish eye cameras, photography books, CDs and old skool headphones. In fact, it’s a great place to pick up a gift for your favourite hipster friend or relative.

I timed my visit to Urban Outfitters to perfection. 11am on a Sunday morning, I was waiting outside the doors as it opened and consequently had the place to myself.
The shop is well laid out over two floors. It’s all about the exposed brick work and giant staircase, and the shop looks smart and trendy, with a definite vintage feel. It deals mainly in clothing but also sells accessories, gift items and books.
After a few minutes browsing I already had an armful of clothes so made my way hastily to the changing rooms. The girl supervising was very friendly and was happy to run up and down the stairs to find me different sizes to try on.
I decided on a new coat and a dress. The girl on the cash desk was again very friendly and chatty. Places like this make the whole shopping experience great fun, and not the chore it can sometimes be.
I feel like I’m developing a little crush on Liverpool, who would have thought!
