Food was very good. It was a much nicer restaurant than expected but with that, it was more expensive than expected. Overall, very nice but we needed bread or crackers with our appetizer and it took 15 minutes to flag someone down. The fillet was great, the seafood was great.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch having looked up steak places in Liverpool city centre on Unilocal.Easy to fine situated in an old bank building in the financial district. It’s all impressive high ceilings and white tablecloths with a bright and airy feel. Despite being a large open plan restaurant only about half full, it has a good and buzzy atmosphere which I found welcoming and pleasing right from the start. The staff are helpful even if the service itself is a bit slow. I had the squid to begin. It was battered and frankly it could have been anything of a chewy consistency in there. Next we had the chateaubriand which was fine. It was supposed to be Prime USDA beef but it didn’t taste as good as the stuff you get over there. The chips were a little overdone and the creamed spinach hadn’t been chopped which gave it a weird texture. The pudding options weren’t very exciting so I took a miss on that but the other half had the malteser ice cream which I was informed was ‘nothing special’. All in all, great place. Glad I had chosen it. Would definitely come again I n my next trip to Anfield.

Excellent cocktail menu! After dinner, we stopped in for drinks and the place was lively, filled with the utmost sociable atmosphere. Great ambiance to hang out with friends for a night on the town. We were impressed with their creative cocktail menu– I recommend the Kentucky Flower– one of the best bourbon drinks I’ve had the pleasure to try(and it wasn’t even from the States!). It’s in a good location with a beautiful crowd. Try to stop in for your next happy hour!

This is a popular place for business lunches but I recommend it for a great place to go on a date when you are looking for somewhere sophistcated where you can hear what your date is saying. They also have a couple of dishes to share. On entering you are greeting by a very friendly maître d’(short for maître d’hôtel, in the original French, literally«master of the hotel») …I had to look that up on Wikipedia. They politely ignored the fact that I was slightly under dressed. The central bar with its padded stools with arms faces the entrance. I like the look of the metal counter and attractively arranged hanging glasses. It’s a beautiful building with high ceilings, attractive stonework and inticate coving designs. Its not all pricey food — you can get a sandwich and fries for £7.25 during the day.

Considering that it has the unfortunate names of Bar and Grill in the title which would usually conjure images of slack jawed yokels and deep fried chiken wings — I love both by the way — The RBG on Brunswick is a damn fine restaurant and bar. You will usually find lots of suits in here on ‘business meetings’, networking and dining on expenses. As soon as I enter I feel under dressed unless in anything but my best clobber and can’t help but be impressed by the bright, tasetful décor that highlights the best details of this old merchant building. The food is expensive but you certainly feel as if you get what you pay for and although you can get sandwiches — at £8 for a baguette though its hardly something to eat on the hoof — it is really more of a place to impress a date or client. Even if you don’t stop for food the bar is very good with a really good selection of wines and some of the best cocktails in the city.

Restaurant bar and grill has stiff competition for my foody affections from a few of its rivals. There is Gaucho’s, Blackhouse grills and of course the Brazilian duo of Bem Brazil and Tropeiro. This particular outlet in Liverpool however does tickle my fancy. First of all as soon as you walk in there is an immaculate sense of attention to detail. The centre stage cocktail bar with animated staff is a theatrical background to the dining experience. The glass wine racks are aesthetically pleasing. Add to it the food and you have a truly worth while dining experience. I would strongly recommend you try from the clay oven the lamb cutlets with spicy Bombay potatoes. Or should I call them Mumbai potatoes. Either way they are simply fantastico, bellissimo… what more can I say… The food is just great. The mains range from £13−25 but will not disappoint. So whether it’s for a cocktail or a nice meal or both I would highly recommend Liverpool’s Restaurant bar & grill offering.

You cannot for the life of you argue that this place doesn’t do what it says on the tin. It’s a restaurant, a bar and a grill. Simples! But obviously you want to know a little more than that, and that’s what I’m here for. Yes, as my byline makes clear, Unilocaling you is indeed my goal. Just had a flashback to that horrendous winning song by X Factor triumphant Shayne Ward… *shudders*. Whatever happened to him, hmm? Anyway, back to the restaurant. And bar. And grill. Housed in the Halifax building right in the heart of Liverpool’s bustling business district on good ol’ Brunswick street, this slightly upmarket chain seems perfectly located. After all, it pretty much ticks all the boxes. The cuisine is a mixed bag, ranging from Asian-influenced dishes(Indian, Thai, Chinese) to Mediterranean mezze and Brit affairs like fish and chips or rotisserie along with burgers, pastas, salads and fish. Is there anything they don’t cover? It’s all very high quality and can be a little dear with sharers starting at £3 but it’s worth the expense, especially for the puds. Ah, the puds. There are some unusual options here like fruit salad and yoghurt sorbet(how can yoghurt be sorbet? Surely it becomes frozen yoghurt as opposed to sorbet at that point), but it’s the super indulgent ones that are really stunning. The sharers are incredible, the chocolate and toffee fondue being mighty irresistible served with berries and toasted marshmallows, and you’ll find crème brulee, New York baked cheesecake, chocolate soufflé, brownies, ice creams and handmade chocolate truffles. Mmm. The atmosphere is airy and open plan, the old bank location really adds an architectural quality to the place and the service is attentive but not too overly fussy. All in all it notches up top marks from me!

If you are into elegant dining and have a new date or business colleague to impress I would put the Bar and Grill in Brunswick street in Liverpool’s bustling business quarter on your list. The restaurant oozes sophistication and to say the staff are attentive is to understate how you will be treated from the moment you arrive to the time when your coat is returned. This is definitely dining on a budget, if quite a large one, but I always look to the value and overall experience and these stack up well for the money you will shell out. For the sophisticated business meeting or those with an all evening conference or conversation to have with close colleagues there is also a private dining room which will enable you to connect with that vital customer or prospective business partner. The food? Oh yes, there is also a menu which will please the most discerning palate and a great choice of special dishes. So if you need to impress and find food and convivial surroundings help swing it for your business, check out the Bar and Grill.

Beautifully designed restaurant but unfortunately the clientele and staff put me off. Largely populated by Liverpool’s new rich(i.e property developers who’ve got a buy to let in Bootle) with their bouffed blonde accessories it just tries too hard. I’ve had service issues here too with staff who are just not up to it. Leaning across my 75 year old mum to serve my dad is unacceptable. Also, the menu travels the world too much for me. I don’t think you can serve italian, thai, chinese, japanese and french all on the same menu and get away with it. It’s a bit like a posh Wetherspoon’s. Still it is very beautifuil in terms of the design and I’m sure it still packs them in. Others do upmarket dining a lot better without the show.
