Beans on toast with a cup of tea made for a welcome start to the day but any thoughts of coming back later for a drink were erased by an awful beer choice. This is rare for JDW but they only had a couple of the basic options on. Nothing remotely interesting and nothing ‘coming soon’. You might say that the Fall Well has run dry Photo link:

This branch of the Lloyd’s bar chain attempts to go for the slick trendiness of New York but ends up coming across more like a family function room crossed with a furniture store. The Fall Well was once a vital source of water for the surrounding area and stood on the site of this pub’s neighbour, the Royal Court Theatre. Water would flow into the fountain and gardens of William Roe, a merchant after whom the street is name and who lived in Queen Square. With its low lights and smarmy bar staff, you might be roped in for a second but I warn you now it’s not worth it. There’s much better places everywhere else.
