The sign for Station Fish and Chips is nothing flashy; the name is written in a fancy font and there are a couple of fishes either side of the name hinting at something a bit more playful, but overall it’s a pretty simple shop front. Inside, the décor is similarly plain and simple and though it looks pretty dull, interior design isn’t the main reason you go into a chippy. As its name suggest, Station Fish and Chips is just around the corner from Maghull train station, making it a perfect stop off shortly before or after a train journey(make sure you don’t spend too much time at the station itself, though). The food in Station Fish and Chips is nothing inventive or original; as the name suggests, they offer your favourite chippy treats, but all of it is made to a very high standard. The chips in particular there are beautifully fluffy and crunchy, just the right mix. The fish there is also of a particularly nice as it is deliciously thick and full of flavour. Station Fish and Chips is just one of many chippies in the area, but I would definitely recommend it as one of the best around.

Poor little Station Fish & Chips, all alone in this little strip of shops/eateries in the quiet Maghull. A fish and chip shop deserves a bustling street. However, this place seems to be doing okay in spite of it’s location. As the previous reviewer said, I imagine the fact that it’s stayed open so long has to do with the quality of the food. I mean, I guess you can’t really use the word«quality» to describe fish and chips realistically, but you know what I mean. There are bad chips and there is bad fish. But not at Station Fish & Chips.(Actually, I think all fish is bad. But that’s another story!) You won’t get charged an arm and a leg here either. And they offer some variety in the items you can order as sides/main meals. Staff are very friendly and conversational.

Station Fish and Chips has been established for a long time and looks pretty dated from the outside. However, this does not affect its sterling quality, with efficient and friendly service on offer. The takeaway is squeaky clean and roomy enough to fit all chip-waiting folk inside. For a small cost you can get a great fish and chips combo, or if this doesn’t suit, then the Station also offers other fast-food goodies such as sausages, gravy, mushy peas. You know; all those traditional, seriously unhealthy cuisines. I love Station Fish and Chips because it’s quaint, and its quality never wavers.
