Smithdown cycles are the kind of independent store which struggles against the big chains such as Halfords and I believe that it puts up a good fight. I have been looking around Liverpool for a good bike store and found this place to be great value and not to mention much friendlier than a big corporation.
The staff no what their talking about and they do their best to help you regardless of your budget which in my case was very small indeed.
The shop itself is a bit old fashioned and could do with a spruce up but this is no bad thing as it makes it feel more personal.
I’m not going to say that the range here is as good or as modern as a big store but the value certainly competes and the staff are fantastic. A personal touch and a lovely well run business.

Smithdown Cycles is a tiny bright red bicycle shop situated near the Edge Hill end of the road.
The range of bikes on offer is limited due to the size of the shop, but the stock they do have is pretty varied. What this store offers the best of though, is accessories and spares. The guy who helped me was very friendly and knowledgable when I couldn’t find any inner tubes.
The store also offers very speedy repairs, so if you need to take your beloved bike in to be fixed, you can rest assured it is in very capable hands indeed.
