We were looking for a place that would do a good breakfast in Liverpool city centre. My sister chose Shiraz Café, which I was unsure if because the photos on here show kebabs… We came on a Sunday morning and it’s actually a greasy spoon workers café and not a kebab house! Lucky we were early because the place filled up in the next half an hour! We went for three of their all day breakfast choices: Full English Breakfast £5.50, Vegetarian Breakfast £4.90, Dieter’s Breakfast £4.90. All came with a choice of tea or coffee. They were HUGE! Good value, good service.

Shiraz Café is a surprisingly good little café situated in Williamson square which is one of Liverpool’s more hidden delights despite it being right in the heart of the city centre. From the outside looking in I wasn’t sure about whether this would be a good place to eat in but it didn’t take long for me to realise that this was indeed a place of some quality. The staff were friendly and helpful and the menu had some delightful surprises but obviously the main fare was burgers ect and other foods of that similar nature. To sit in here and eat was surprisingly relaxing and I spent a lot longer in this establishment than I had planned to in the first instance. To summarise this place was a really pleasant surprise and it has turned out to be a favourite haunt of mine.

Another hot day in Liverpool and Williamson Square is full of life and the squeals of little kids as the fountains have been turned on again. Shiraz Café looks over all of this excitement and mayhem with an excellent outdoor seating area complete with huge umbrella(Thank God Shiraz thought about my pale skin!) Armed with a good book, I ordered a coffee and feeling rather in the land of Topsy Turvy, I ordered a dessert to start. Who can resist a hot chocolate fudge cake with a gooey melting chocolate centre and two big scoops of proper icecream on a lovely afternoon? Not me that’s for sure! I think my back-to-front ideology was catching too as I saw the table of lads next to me follow my lead. Good decision. It was delectable. The mains are take-outish(Pizzas, burgers, brekkies and the like) but look delish and whizzed out of the kitchen even though it was super busy inside and out. Lovely!

Before venturing inside the shiraz, I must admit I was put off by its glitzy exterior. However my misconceptions were blown away once i had tucked into the burger and chips that was served up so quickly I could hardly believe it. The shiraz always seems to be busy and my visit was no exception, how they manage to maintain the speed of service I do not know, but somehow they are able to keep things moving. The shiraz is obviously not serving up gourmet cuisine, but if your after some junk food quickly, theres nowhere better nearby.

When I went to Shiraz Café this morning, I expected it to be another one of those grease filled places but it wasn’t as such. From the outside, it is a simple café with nothing extravagant about it. In terms of my impression, Shiraz sells decent junk food and the cheese burger and chips meal I ordered for just £3.20 with a drink was quality and definitely value for money. The food was fresh, hot and served within 5 minutes. When more customers arrived, it began to create more of an atmosphere and suddenly I recognised this is as a popular place. Their guests comment book also showed this and I was overall pleased that my morning got off to a great start! In addition to the burgers, pizzas and toasted sandwiches they sell, the menu consists of jacket potatoes and a dieter breakfast for the more health conscious. I was suprised that a little café like this offered so much; enough to tempt me to go back again — certainly some of their classic main courses which sound delicious and very affordable.

Shiraz Café, on Williamson Square serves a pretty good serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. One of their current offers is a big English breakfast at £3.99. Far too much for me when I was there that day, all I could manage was tea and toast, which was quite unlike me. But for those who have a big appetite in the morning, the big breakfast looked good! Main meals include burgers, kebas, chicken and pizza which you can eat in or take away. Shiraz is always pretty busy which speaks for itself. You won’t miss Shiraz when you walk along Williamson Square, as the sign has a big orange/brown background with black writing. Thinking about similar cafés in Liverpool, I think Shiraz does a pretty good job.
