Probably the best of a bad bunch, this particular branch of the primarily banal Revolution franchise used to be a vodka-tinted pit-stop years ago, when fellers handing out coupons for free shots would greatly underestimate how much of a skinflint I can be. There used to be enormous satisfaction gained in fighting to the bar, getting a free drink and then departing onto pastures fun. Filled with noisy lads, noisier ladies and a huge mirror that never fails to trick me into thinking I’m being stalked by my lookalike, the Fleet Street Revolution is decent enough when quiet. It’s just a shame that scenario never happens. Also, dibs ‘The Fleet Street Revolution’ as a band name. It sounds like an historical event remembered only by journalists.

This revolution bar is the biggest I have been to in Liverpool and on a Saturday night rivals much of concert square as one of the busiest bars in the area. I am not a massive fan of revolution in the evening’s, this particular branch is way to busy on the weekends and the bar is not quite large enough to cope with the large numbers of people that flock here. This is quite a good venue to rent for a large group as there is an extra room downstairs which is great for sports and societies looking for a large dance floor and seating. The ample seating upstairs in this revolution makes it an attractive place to head for afternoon drinks and there new menu offers some quite nice lunch items but overall the prices are just too high to justify heading here. If you go to a revolution I suggest heading down the hill to the wood street branch which is smaller and generally less crowded.

‘Special offers for stag and hen parties’ Housed in the Tea Factory building in St Peter’s Square, this branch of Revolution is more spacious and stylish than the original one on Wood St. The walls are curved, the lighting is more atmospheric and there’s slick leather booths for groups of friends to congregate. Sadly, the music is usually the same as other branches with loud rock, pop and dance music bouncing off the walls most evenings. The clientele is equally loud and gregarious at weekends — with big groups of inebriated boys and girls knocking back shots and pitchers of vodka til they’re legless. The words ‘Special offers for stag and hen parties’ really does say it all!
