The Old Swan pub is situated on the crossroads in the heart of the Old Swan area. i don’t know which was named after which but its irrelevant. The pub looks quite large from the outside, and this is probably the case as far as floor space goes, but inside seems a lot smaller due to the low ceilings. The staff are friendly and have good knowledge of what drinks and food are on offer. The bar is extensive and the food menu is inexpensive and caters for a range of tastes and needs. The seating is comfortable and makes you want to stay a little longer before heading outside again. The pub is decent enough but it just doesn’t stand out from the many similar pubs in the area. Its a good place for a quick quiet drink but I personally wouldn’t consider it for a nigh out.

Which Old Swan came first? Was the area named after this pub? Or did the area name come first and all the pubs clamoured to nab the name first in order to make themselves seem more central to the neighbourhood? Whatever the reason was(none of the ones I’ve mentioned), the Old Swan’s name makes it seem drained of originality. This is an average enough pub with a good menu and a ceiling claustrophobically low. I wouldn’t want to come here post-dusk but in the daytime it can provide a handy distraction from outdoorland.

I love Old Swan in Liverpool. Apart from the fact that some of my family live there it is a cracking little shopping centre with a few nice pubs, a tescos on one corner and Queens drive on the other. Its wicked. And bosts everything a suburb should, a nice little school, church, good housing and shopping facilities. easy bus access, not far from the station at broadgreen, and easily accessible from eother the Rocket or Queens Drive. I love it.
