I have just returned(at 2.35pm) from a girly lunch at the NEWZ bar. 13 of us had booked to eat at 1pm, and all turned up on time to eat from the lunchtime menu. We had prebooked the table and this had been confirmed twice. On arrival, the table had not been set up, but this was soon rectified. Menus were distribusted and drinks orders taken. At this time, we were notified that the Hot Pot was off, and the Duck was in the oven leaving us a choice of 3 options out of 5 Drinks orders were taken, and at approximately 1:30 the drinks arrived, along with an apology that the Fish & Chips were now also ‘OFF’. New orders were now placed. At 1:50, the starters arrived started to arrive, with the Olive/Houmus plates arriving a good 10 minutes after the rest. As the starters were being cleared away at approx 2:10(bearing in mind this is a lunchtime menu, aimed at working people with an hours lunch) we were advised that there were not enough vegetable wraps left, and you were 2 short. At this point, 2 ladies decided that they would leave to return to work. 1 of these had not had a starter, and had been sat in the resturant for over an hour, without food. The remainder of the meals arrived at about 2:15, however the chips that were served were french fries with all meals, rather than being the rustic chips. By this time, we were so late for returning to work, that we didn’t feel like making more of a fuss. We finally left at 2:30pm after food was finally finished. Full price was charged for 11 mainmeals taken.(what start rating would you suggest??? great for evening celeb spotting, but don’t go for lunch)

Really enjoyed myself here as it made sense to get a table and all my mates chip in rather than buying single drinks all night long. the music was good and the people were friendly so if you want good music and a nice party atmosphere and would’nt mind seeing the odd celebrity Footballer or W.A.G then this is the place for you.

If you’re a poser then Newz bar is for you. It is supposedly frequented by footballers, soap stars and d-listers, but all I’ve ever seen is orange wannabe wags here. The Newz Bar is supposed to be classy and expensive but it just feels false and pretentious. If you have money to burn then book yourself a booth and buy champagne or vodka by the bottle. All the drinks sold here are overpriced but nothing special. The staff are reasonably friendly if you flash your cash, otherwise they are rather snooty and seem to look down on you. Apparently the food is good here but it looks overpriced. Unless you’re modelesque, orange and wearing designer clothing you probably won’t experience good manners or respect.

I was surprised to find out that the Newz Bar only opened in 2001, feels like it has been around a lot longer than that and bars have changed a lot in that time which is probably one of the reasons that Newz feels a lot older than it is. In Liverpool, Newz trades off a reputation as being an exclusive hang out for footballers and soap stars. Only part of this is true. You may indeed see some footballers and Hollyoaks cast do indeed go here. How exclusive you think this is I shall let you decide. The music policy of bland funky house style beats enhances the idea of this being an older venue for older clients like businessmen and lawyers all vying for posing room. When you consider the places like Korova, Bumper and Mojo that have established themselves in recent years it is easy to see how Newz seems to be far behind the times. They do food here which I have yet to sample but a lunch and evening menu is available at reasonable prices.

Newz serves food during the day and is a night spot in the late hours. I haven’t been to taste the food but went here one night with some friends. The bar is one of the longest in Europe, there’s an entire wall lined with champagne bottles which looked a bit tacky to be honest. Must admit there was definitely an element of ott in here. Now under normal circumstances I pay very little attention to the crowd per se. Must admit though, the crowd here was slightly on the chav side. However as with anywhere if you are with the right people you can have fun almost anywhere. I was impressed enough with the service however to possibly return on another occasion and give it another chance. You should too.

Imagine a 19th century shipping warehouse and then go and visit Newz Bar. As you will see absolutely no resemblance anymore, what a transformation. From the outside, I don’t think it looks all that great, but from the inside it is pretty impressive. I am more inclined to go for lunch than dinner. Don’t get me wrong I like it, but it does get a bit too glitzy in the evening. Anyhow it’s good for lunch, particularly given the credit crunch lunch menu offer they have on at the minute which helps make the place not seem so expensive and is fairly reasonable.

If you’re female and you want to bag yourself a footballer, or your life’s ambition is to do a kiss-and-tell piece for The Sun, this bar is right up your street. Falling into the category of ‘see and be seen’ this is where all the local z-list celebrities like to hang out and pretend they’re in London. To be blunt, it gives the impression to be up it’s own bum, and obviously welcomes like-minded people. So, what was I doing in a place like this? I went once when it first opened and hadn’t yet established a reputation, and again when someone convinced me it would be a good idea to go. When you walk in you get that red carpet feeling, and some people crane their necks to see if anyone important has just entered. The bar is long and hosts a glittering array of cocktails — let me just state at this point that I have no problem with the bar itself, just the people in it. The staff are polite if not overtly friendly, and the drinks are good, if you can afford more than one. However, it’s not somewhere I would ever think of going to on a night out. At least not until I get that radical surgery and liposuction I’ve always wanted…

Have only been here a couple of times but I do like it, bit procey and a bit swanky but good for special occasions. Is quite expensive but really well located. Think a lot of a the hollyoaks/wag crowd hang out here!

This is a fancy place! Good food and range of drinks. Swanky lighting and all the staff are good looking. Hang out for the rich and famous(footballers, wags, soap stars etc). If you got a bit of cash and are not on a budget — check it out

Only been here on the odd occasion as the prices dont exaclty suit a poor student. None the less though a really good bar which attracts the more wealthy; footballers and celebs mingle nicley combined with some ambitious student types trying to get a lookin.

Get glammed up to visit the newz bar, It has fabulous music and glamorous people. you will find many celebrities hanging around here. The drinks are reasonably priced and try thier Rosa wine. The décor is very warming with booths available to hire for the evening at a price. Open evenings.
