Illy Espressamente

It’s not quite as cool as coffee and cigarettes but let’s be honest, coffee and a great book comes a pretty close second.
Located on the first floor of the new Waterstones in Liverpool ONE, Illy Espressamente is a swanky coffee shop with an illuminated coffee bar, red leather swivel chairs and bar stools. If it was on the ground floor of the shop and visible from the street it would probably be rammed morning til night. As it’s hidden away between the fiction section and the film and art however, it’s usually blissfully quiet. Admittedly, I’d rather they served Union or Monmouth Coffee but what the hell, the Americana I had was still pretty good.
The cincher for parents however, is there’s a huge section for children around the corner. I’m not advocating anyone abandoning their offspring but in theory, you could leave them happily reading Charlie & Lola whilst you grab a quick pick-​me-​up in peace and quiet!
