I feel that I have to agree with my fellow Unilocalers and state that Brough’s Butchers in Formby village sells the best meat I’ve ever tasted, ever, in the whole wide world. Fact. With the increasing popularity of supermarket deli and meat departments, it is nice every so often to visit butchers like Brough’s and buy some great quality meat, when approaching the great British barbeque season in particular. I have recently bought a great selection of sausages whilst there which included award-winning honey sausages that were lovely as well as some delicious chorizo sausages that I cannot wait to buy again. They also do brilliant cuts of beef and various flavours of chicken which put Tesco’s hot chicken counter to shame, representing great value for money. So, if you’re in the area, I strongly advise you visit Brough’s for your meat requirements as their food will leave you always wanting to go back for more.

My friends are always joking that I’m a ‘closet vegetarian’ so if they saw me in Brough’s they’d probably be very surprised indeed. However, this litle butchers is truly fantastic, and always gives great service even if there is a queue(well, understandable, the place does the best meat for miles around). If you’re having a BBQ then Brough’s can cater for all your needs. Get some delicious pork and apple sausages, burgers and steak and you’ll be as content as can be. A great butchers so if you’re passing by pick up something nice and meaty for dinner.

There are few nicer things than a really, really nice bit of meat; some nice sausages or nice sirloin or even nice chicken. Well I tell you what, Brough does the nicest nice meat in the area. Outside of the mighty Evan’s of Didsbury this is by far my favourite butchers in the whole entire wide world. Some would say that, in that case, my world is a little small — I would say as long as that world is filled with nice meat products then it can be the size of a gnat’s bungalow. It is tempting particularly around this time of year to go out and buy a ‘Bumber BBQ Pack’ from a major supermarket and while these are almost irresistibly cheap you’ll regret it in the end when the wafer thin burgers slide between the bars of your barbecue grill and the chicken wings come out with as much flesh on them as a set pulled off a butterfly. Definitely come to Brough instead — they do BBQ packs here too, they’re a little more expensive but they are full of juicy sausages, thick burgers and tender cuts. If you’re lucky they might even send the bicycle boy out to drop it off. Remember to try manager Rob’s signature lasagne — absolutely delicious.
