Like Ate Days A Week, Babylon Grill Café’s main clientele seems to be locals students and workers. As a result, they’re open early til late and serve every meal of the day from breakfast, lunch and supper to mid-afternoon snacks. The décor and ambience is nothing to write home about but I don’t anyone cares when the portions are so big and the prices so low. Alongside big breakfasts, there’s something for every palete from salads, toasties and pizzas to kebabs, curries, chillis and baked potatoes. They also sell hot drinks, soft drinks and big wedges of cake. In short: student heaven.

This place is great as it has a bit of everything which is just the kind of thing you want to see on the multi diverse Smithdown road. From breakfasts to kebabs there is something for every palette here at Babylon Grill and I have to say that I am personally guilty for spending far too much of my own small budget on meals out here. Why wouldn’t you eat here if you fancy a cake theyve got it, a pizza your after yes theyve got that too or perhaps a proper English breakfast well yes that is here too. This place really does tick all the boxes and better still it does free delivery. The staff here are awesome and the place feels quite cool you get the impression that they work hard to maintain what they have something which is backed up by the variety and the long opening hours. The place itself just feels cool and laid back and is exactly the kind of eatery which entices hungry students. I have complained in the past that places on Smithdown road try to do far too much and end up getting it all wrong, well Babylon Grill is the exception to that particular rule as they have got it spot on. Brilliant place for all your culinary needs and great value to boot I like the name to.

Babylon Grill Café is a definite contender for one of the best cafes along Smithdown Rd in Wavertree, although I have to say Ate Days A Week still steals my heart. Whilst relaxing in a comfortable atmosphere you can order a series of chilled or hot beverages, cakes and muffins. If you want a more filling meal they offer a deal of £.9.95 for two mains of your desire. With a range of desserts for you to feast your eyes on, it’s all pretty irresistable! If you don’t have time to chill out in the café then they do a great takeaway service, but to be honest the service is very efficient so if you have twenty minutes or so spare I’d recommend sitting in the café and people-watching the regulars of Wavertree.

Although I’m sure they were going more for the ‘Seven wonders of the Ancient world’ version of Babylon rather than the David Gray song this is what springs to mind as I walk in… Anyway, I like it in here! It’s bright and sunny décor with a cute ordering booth that’s chock full of desserts, just in case I wasn’t thinking of getting one, is very appealing! They have a wide selection of sandwiches, jacket potatoes and mains, and a couple of good deals on. It is £9.95 for two main meals of your choice(from a selection which is chilli/curry based) but it seems much more like a café for quickie snacks, cakes and drinks. They also do takeaway if you’re in a rush. The staff were lovely and the service was fast, I’d have no qualms going back for a cuppa!
