BU is one of many independent fashion shops in St John’s Precinct, but it seems to do the best business, as over the years it has expanded and now not only has a separate shoe section, but also handbags, jewellery and lingerie.
It specialises in what some would call ‘chav chic’ — that is, the latest fashions taken to extremes in polyester and at cheap prices. However, you can often find some good stuff in here, and it isn’t nearly as tacky as some of the other shops in the precinct. In fact, I’d go as far as to say you could find something in here for every occasion, whether it be formal, daywear or clubbing.
The shoes are nothing special as there are that many similar shoe shops surrounding BU, but you can get some decent buys. Some of the accessories scream Katie Price wannabes (and by accessories I mean mainly jewellery) and the lingerie can be a little kinky — a cheaper alternative to Ann Summers. Still, if you see something on the highstreet that you want but can’t afford, BU is probably your best backup plan.
