The main reason to go to Aldi? Cheap as chips groceries and household staples. The second reason? Moser Roth chocolate. Each flavour is packaged to look like one bar but actually contain five 25g bars of loveliness. My favourites? The dark chocolate with orange and almonds and milk chocolate with caramel.

Poor old Aldi. It enjoyed a few good years basking in the glow of being the only supermarket for miles around. That was before Asda swaggered in and parked its fat arse across the road. Now the two sit staring at each other and judging from the crush of shoppers pouring through Asda’s revolving door, the Yanks won. Compared to Asda’s bustling slickness and infuriating convenience, Aldi can appear a bit slapdash and sad. However, step inside and you realise it wins the lovability factor by a country fathom. More peaceful, more for your money, more German, Aldi(short for Albrecht Discount in case you were wondering) is a place where you can fill your Volkswagen boot with delicious yet unfamiliar brands and still get change from a Deutschmark. How many other places can say that?

Like the bargains Aldi often has on offer so it’s good to pop in for a little look, but i’d not do a whole weeks shop here as i don’t like a lot of their tins and squashes. Nice cheeses though!

I’ve never been a huge fan of Aldi or Lidl or NEtto as I find the meat and vegeatables to be of a really poor quality. This Aldi hasn’t done anything to change my mind and, despite paying well, they do treat their staff pretty badly. The plus side is that they do a lot of branded goods at extremely cheap prices and sometimes I go there just to get a few bits and pieces I need when Asda across the road has run out of things again. Couldn’t imagine doing a weekly shop here as they don’t have a very good range.

I often thought that this Aldi(built on an old school site) would see its demise since the building of the Asda immediately opposite, In fact it appears to have had the exact opposite affect. The store has actually benefited from more shoppers and the discounts appear better than ever. It has just been extended in the last couple of months. It isn’t actually going to give any real competition to Asda in relation to choice, but there is some really cheap products for sale. Easy parking too!

Aldi is ok they have alot of forgein food which am not to keep on but they also stock some english food which is always alot cheaper so u can get some nice bargains there. They shop is very much all over the place a tab bit dis — organised and it can be difficult to know what your are buying and i tend to spend ages trying to figure out what is inside haha. You cannot complain about the prices tho they are cheap and the fruit and veg is also good quality.

This Aldi has become essential in keeping shopping cost low this year. Its ideally located in Smithdown road and literally just across the road from us. It also has many other things than just food, from mobile phones to lap tops and tv’s to gym balls — all for cut prices. However the food they offer can be limited sometimes.
