Free Ouzo! Live Bouzouki Music! Authentic Greek meze! Plate smashing game! Families Welcome! These claims are made on the colourful brochure available during the day at the Littleborough Visitor Centre, which shares part of the Old Coach House during the day. We went to Demetris on a belated birthday celebration. It was belated because we hadn’t realised just how popular the Taverna is. All the claims made in the brochure were there for us to enjoy on the evening of our visit. The food was gorgeous beyond belief! Okay, I already like Greek food, but this was special. There was plenty prepared for each table and even extra seconds were brought round if you felt you could actually eat more!.. we had extra lamb and wow, we enjoyed it. The plate smashing, held outside, but under cover, so poor weather ought not to be an issue, was great funeven though I was called, by my friends, a wuss ‘cos my plate didn’t smash There were three separate birthday celebrations being held and there was clear evidence of children and families being made welcome and enjoying the various games, dancing and the bouzouki/accordion music which was varied, extremely skillfully played and, joy upon joy, was not played at full volume, as seems to be the norm these days. The music was a full part of the evening but did not prevent conversation amongst the customers. Parking is fully adequate and off-road. The staff are so efficient, friendly and welcoming. Prices are not low, but you get very good value for money. I even got to take my Fez hat home. If you like greek cuisine, fun, a smaller type venue, good music and good company, then do try Demetris. You ought not to be disappointed!
