I stayed for a few nights out of season on a business trip. It’s a bit off the beaten path for the city but is great if you enjoy beautiful countryside with spectacular views and lots of walking trails nearby. The pub is small but cozy with an open fire in the lounge. The staff were excellent and the food was better than expected for a small guest house. It’s worth a day trip just for the food. The rooms are small but clean with private bathrooms.

Dropped in for a Sunday afternoon pint and a game of scrabble. It was a cozy little pub with a decent selection of ales and some good looking food. There was a nice little fire in the corner and it was just a generally nice old pub.

My wife and I were on a country side road trip of England and Scotland making our first overnight stay at Lantern Pike B&B. Driving on the wrong side from London Heathrow on a rainy day in a rented car using my GPS took me about 4 hours to get there, otherwise its about 3 hour drive. Driving was nothing exciting until we entered Peak District national park. Roads became narrower with scenic green hills, sheep, cattle and horses on both sides of the road. Getting to Lantern Pike was not that hard. Upon reaching Lantern Pike around dinner time, we were warmly welcomed by Tom and Stella(the owners). We had fresh delicious dinner and some very good local beers. Late in the evening, we had enjoyable conversation with Tom and other guests– it almost felt like home, having couple of drinks and chatting with friends. The room was comfortable and spacious. I slept well. In the morning, breakfast was delicious as well. We went to see Chatsworth estate– which is about 20 minutes of drive from Lantern Pike. I highly recommend this place for a great relaxing time in a beautiful countryside.

When someone asks me to describe my happiest times over the past few years, many of them include this place! Now my mum and dad used to live down the road, but now they have moved it is more of a trip, but definitely worth it. Stella and Tom and their son Steve(this man has the deepest voice of anyone I’ve ever met) serve up a recipe for success if ever I’ve seen one. Have you ever longed for an old fashioned pub with great beer, traditional food, roaring fires, and a beer garden with a beautiful view… if so then this is the place that you have been looking for. Whether it’s a great place to meet that special someone’s parents, a warm place to rest your muddied boots after a long walk, somewhere to lounge in the sunshine whilst sipping a pint of Timothy Taylor’s, or just a place to enjoy great British food; you MUST go here. Any criticism… that it isn’t nearer!

Stayed here in 2008 on a naughty weekend away with my then new boyfriend. The room wasn’t great, it had the most uncomfortable bed in history, and I ended up with a duvet cover with no duvet in half way through the night. One thing, don’t get carried away and miss the pub grub as we did, cos then you have no food and you’re miles away from anywhere! Scenery is outstanding, and it has it’s own car park. However to redeem itself, it had the best food I’ve ever had in a little B&B, the breakfast was amazing! I had croissants and fresh fruit, all beautifully presented.
