This is a great shop, lovely to shop in and a fantastic selection of beers and wines and spirits. Probably my husband’s favourite shop.

I second the above, with a special note towards their selection of Single Malts, as far as I know, the largest in all of East Sussex, including Brighton(to buy, not to drink). The gentlemen there were also very knowledgeable re: peats, isles, and so on. And of course, I must recommend the tour of the Brewery. I don’t drink beer, but not to be missed. It’s a year and a half waiting list: sign up now!

Have to give this shop 5* because of its history, quality of stock amiable and friendly staff. Situated very close to the Brewery, this shop is in prime place to attract customers parking at the South end of the town. Right opposite Bill’s! The shop sells draught and bottled beer, together with wines and spirits. A variety of gifts can be had, but if nothing takes your fancy,(unlikely), you can purchase Gift Cards. Well worth a visitextremely good for Beerticking!!!

If you drink in a pub in the Sussex area there is a likely chance that in the last year they have had a t least one cask or bottle of ale from this brewery for sale. The building is the original 19 century structure and stands as a bastion to the town’s history in the middle of the shopping precinct. I’ve not managed to blag my way into a tour yet, but I’m sure I will manage it one day. You can however smell all the lovely rich hops and aromas pouring out on a summers day if you are near the building. Luckily, you need no such Willy Wonka golden ticket to nose around the shop and this is a great place to buy anything Harvey’s(and manage to get a few free taster samples if you play it right!) In some ways, the ale is certainly the source, but the proof is in the product and that you can sample with ease in about 90% of decent Brighton pubs.

This is my favourite brewery, not just because it’s down the road from me. I was fortunate enough to go on a brewery tour during the winter, seeing the inner workings of this British institution. If you are interested in this type of thing, certainly make a visit. Unlike with a lot of modern breweries, Harvey’s is still in the original building from the 19th century, thus also providing you with a brilliant lesson in history. The attached shop is also brilliant, offering more ale then can be drank in a lifetime. They also sell wines and good quality local spirits for those of you not keen on beer.

If your a fan of Harvey’s(in my humble opinion the best beer in the galaxy) then this place is like Mecca. We did the brewery trip last summer as part of my friend’s stag weekend and we had such a great time. The first thing that hits you is the smell of all the hops and malt which, if I could I’d buy as aftershave! The building is steeped in history inside and out so you get so much interesting things to take in. Obviously the best bit is the tasting part at the end though! They only run the tours from June through to Nov in the evening times(its still a working brewery in the day) and therefore there’s a 2 year waiting list but I can promise you, its worth the wait!

Harvey’s brewery is a Lewes institution– an independent family-run brewery that produces an amazing range of delicious beers and ales. You can admire the fantastic brewery buildings– all old brickwork buildings with great painted signs and trim– from the bridge in the middle of the pedestrianised shopping street. Then you can walk a few meters to the Harvey’s shop and admire their products! The shop is lovely, with creaking wood floirs, oak beams and two large rooms filled with all different types of ales, beers, and Harvey’s merchandise. If you a real fan you can get a Harvey’s apron, cap or jumper. I always go in to get bottles of their Christmas ale, which I discovered they sell year round and now get to treat myself with every so often. It tastes so rich and fruity it’s like Christmas pudding in a glass, with a huge alcoholic kick– it really is amazing if you like strong ales! The staff are super knowledgeable and can recommend something to suit any taste.
