I used to really enjot shopping here but since the post office has been located here on the lower floor it is hard to know where things are now stocked and the shop seems to have lost pride in having an organised store. Wh smith used to have some great offers but I havent seen any for a while, i find alot of items overpriced and was not impressed with their xmas range this year. I do like the range of books they stock and often buy new books from here when on half price offers.

I must echo the other reviewers sentiments about the problems with this WH Smith’s. The post office operated on the ground floor at Smith’s, while providing much needed services, is frankly poorly run and you can expect to be waiting in long queues at the best of times; not ideal if you are in a rush! Smith’s also seems to be lacking a bit of direction about what it actually is. Large retailers like Tescos and specialists like Partners often have as good as selection on books and stationery and often better prices. The main reason I still visit the store is because they still have an unbeatable selection of magazines to browse and purchase, but other than this, I can’t think of anything they offer that somewhere nearby doesn’t offer at a better price.

I really find it a struggle to go into W H Smiths these days. Since the post office was moved downstairs in 2007 the shop has become very scattered and untidy. There are often queues everywhere and the staff seem pretty clueless most of the time with whats g oing on. I don’t think the post office system operates that well as it sort of makes the rest of the shop look extremely tiny or dull. Value for money is pretty good though as you can get lots of stationary for next to nothing though places like Wilkinsons often beat them. The same could be said for DVDs and CDs and the selection is very limited. It also seems as if their variety of literature on offer is also dwindling which is disappointing. You can’t really find anything you want anymore, well I can’t. It seems that Smiths is only good these days for the occasional browse at the magazines

This has been turned into the most random Smiths in the world, since Leicester’s main post office shut and reopened shop in the basement of Smiths. It’s a bit weird and can lead to irritating queues in bizarre places. This is a multi-floored WH Smiths like any other. Magazine and newspapers abound on the ground floor and as ever it can be impossible to reach the mag you want through all the avid ‘browsers’ reading their way through several tenners worth of magazines. The stationery, gift wrap, card and craft sections are useful but often lack competitive pricing with somewhere like Staples, but Smith’s is in a more convinient location so I guess you pay for that.
