Shut down on Granby Street and now part of Newalke Museum although not branded as such. Was going to get located in a new building but council cuts finished off this idea. Shame really as it was good.

City Gallery is tucked away in amongst the shops on Granby Street and easy to miss if you’re not sure what you’re looking for. They regularly change the exhibitions there, and have a programme of events for both adults and children which relate to the art they have on display.
My favourite bit of the year there is when they put on the exhibition of local art which anyone can submit work to — you get a really interesting variety of work in different media then. Some of the modern stuff isn’t very good to my tastes, but at least they give less well known artists a chance to show case their work.

On granby street, not really noticeable if you don’t look for it. But nevertheless and nice place to visit. Has different gallaries and displays which are changed often. Something different in the city centre.

I have come here a couple of times with our friends Waltraud and Graham! They live in Leicester and attend this gallery on a regular basis.
Local artists exhibit their artwork here. Sometimes there are displays from schools or from competitions. It is well-worth a visit and you can spend some money in the good art shop. I like good jewellery!
It has a friendly feel to it.
