This place is tired. Virtually every menu item both food and beer was off for the night. The carpet was filthy, the place was not acceptable. The staff were good, felt sorry for them having to make excuses for a very poorly run venue. Several hours later and I have been attacked with a nasty tummy upset… stay away from this place!

6÷7÷14 This is part of the«Vintage Inns» chain. First ever visit, and it was to treat my 93 yo uncle to Sunday lunch. Booked in advance. With the oddest thing on the confirmation e-mail: «Maximum time at the table will be 2 hours». I did try to change the time from 14:00, but they responded that the had set sitting times, and 13:30 wasn’t one of them… «We can only take booking 1200123014001430.» The food was well presented. Three of us had the roast beef, and the two children plumbed for Fish and Chips. There are extensive grounds, and we sat outside for our final drink. There are also set areas out side to order food too. They are all sectioned off, and outside these areas there’s other seating for drinking only. All the staff were very pleasant. My uncle couldn’t read the small print of the menu, so my suggestion would be for them to have one produced in bigger print, but not sure how many times this would be required. I sorted it and ordered on his behalf. 3 x 28 Day Aged Roast Beef with roast potatoes and vegetables — £10.25 ea 2 x Fish & Chips(Cod loin) — £10.95 ea 1 x Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cheesecake — £4.95 1 x Ultimate Chocolate Brownie Tower — £5.95 2 x Pinot Grigio(250 ml) — £5.95 ea Can’t remember the individual prices of a pint of Pedigree, and half a pint Bombardier. Total cost came to: £85.30 Interesting that the waitress called the Bombardier as Bombar de aire. I said I’ll just need half a pint of the Bombardier, and then she twigged… :-) Went out side and order some more drinks from the bar £14.20 — Another glass of Pinot, pint of Pedigree, half of Bombardier, plus two soft drinks… The car park was quite full, and over spilled onto the grass area. I recommend, and would return.

This is a good pub out in the countryside. I tend to only go when I want to sit outside in their garden. The selection of beers is good, the food is generally very good(not the chips) and the staff are pleasant. The lack of staff though is problem. I’ve always had to wait a long time to be served. I’m not impatient but they only ever seem to have one person behind the bar. Food on a sunny Sunday lunch time — an hours wait and then a chicken and avocado salad with no avocado turns up! It just seems like a few extra staff would help.

This is a lovely country pub and restaurant which does great food. I have visited there many times with my Grandmother and she also goes there quite often on her own. The staff there are very friendly; she never feels awkward dining alone. They have a imple menu, with favourites such a scapi and chips, steak, salmon etc as well as specials which vary each week. As a vegetarian I have always found a fair few dishes I can eat and they have all been tasty and various.
