The first place I went to when I moved to Leeds, since it’s basically my «local», The Roundhay has all the things you would expect from a pub: big TVs, lots of space, good deals on food, pool tables and beer. The food is nothing special, just good old pub grub, the staff are on the friendly and helpful side, which is nice, and the clientele varies between the better-to-do residents of north LS8 and Leeds United fans.

As this is officially my nearest local, i really should write something about it. Unfortunately, i just find the place a bit lifeless and generic, the cellars are not good(beer a bit warm) and the wine was terrible. However, it does allow dogs in and the clientèle are anything but lifeless! We popped in for a drink on the way back from dinner in Oakwood and well, the people rushing in and out the front door to view potential fights was alarming. As other people have mentioned it’s a family pub — i wouldn’t take the family there on a Saturday night! Mind you, on other occasions it’s been fine… we even won their«family fortunes» style pub quiz!

This place is situated on the outskirts of Roundhay so you don’t get the bonus of the park nearby. It isn’t as cosy as the Fox just up the road but is no way near as rough as the Streets, its other main competitor. It is very much family orientated, I wouldn’t suggest going on a Sunday lunch time if noisy kids really grates on you. The food isn’t bad, your standard pub food but the prices are good for both food and drinks.

The Roundhay is a family friendly pub, at the far end of Roundhay Road, away from Leeds City Centre. The food is what I would describe as ‘good old pub grub’, very tasty and reasonably cheap. They also do childrens meals and have a childrens play corner which makes it a perfect family spot for when you fancy getting out of the house or have a family gathering planned and would rather not do it at home. If you are a fan of X Factor, they show it on a big screen on a Saturday so you can jeer and shout at the contestants with other like minded customers. They also do quiz nights on Tuesday and Thursdays if you fancy yourself a bit of a general knowledge buff. In the summer(which seems very far away right now) they do barbecues! Yummm.

very cheap and tasty pub food, very reasonably priced and now do kids meals too. they also have a little childrens corner where kids can play while waiting for their food. the portions could be a bit bigger but then i have a big appetite. they have barbeques on sundays in the summer, and x factor night on saturday where you can watch it on the big screen.
