So I’ve lived a 5 min walk away from this restaurant for a few months now, and only now have I learned what a gem it is! My husband and I went there on New Year’s Day, and it was nice and quiet. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside it’s cozy and the service, while not the fastest, is certainly pleasant. I had chicken sathay for my starter and the Thai red curry for main, and both were magnificent in taste and juuuuust right in portion size — the starter was small enough to still feel hungry afterwards and the main was juuuuust large enough to feel comfortably full. I did have a try of the fish cakes and Thai green curry my husband ordered, and they were delicious too. The presentation is something as well, with a piece of swede carved into a rose, which I thought was adorable. They do takeaway as well, and that does mean that service at the sit-in section is slower than would otherwise be. They also do an early evening menu 5 – 7 pm for the money-conscious.

«Here he comes to save the daaaaaay!» is what I’m going to sing every time a charming man brings forth delicious Thai take away to me, straight from the oven at Thai Erawan.(And I don’t mean the delivery man, I don’t know if they deliver.) No, thankfully, I had a saviour come and rescue me from my stomach rumbles, and I’m damned pleased that I suggested this place. I had read the reviews, of course, and so when said man asked for ideas for take out in the area, this was on the list. I’d assumed that sending the numbers from their online menu might ease ordering, but apparently this was confusing, as their take out menu has different numbers– fortunately he and the staff could decipher. As ever, I had the Thai Green Curry, coconut rice, and chips. The chips were merely a cheeky luxury, but a damned fine choice as these were my favourite kind. Not too chunky, not too oily, not too crispy. Call me the Goldilocks of potato based edibles. The curry was beautifully spicy, delicious and plentifully filled with chicken, bamboo shoots, peppers and more. The rice was delicious, and came with sesame seeds on top. All in all, I was pretty delighted with the food. Especially that there was enough to last me two days, and I do enjoy not having to cook. Would I suggest it to anyone else? Of course, I thought it was fabulous. Next time, perhaps I’ll have chance to sit in and see the restaurant!

I do not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances unless you unlike rude and unprofessional service. Having patronised Erawan’s many times over the last few years, my friends and I decided to book a table for Saturday night. Having reserved a table we duly attended the restaurant to find that a table has not been reserved although they were expecting us. We were then asked to stand in a corner for ten minutes while they found a table. The table was next to the window which on a frosty night, we found very cold. We were given menus and left to our own devices. We were not offered drinks or the even the traditional thai crackers. After 15 minutes of being ignored, we left, never to return again. This restaurant has been a favourite of ours for years. We would always be greeted warmly, with the custom bowing on our arrival. A table was always ready with prawn crackers, and the drinks were always delivered promptly. Throughout the meal, the waitresses always knew if we needed anything. It seems that Thai Erawan has changed ownership and when usually spending over £100 for a party of 4, we expect far better service. A great pity that another restaurant that used to take customer service so seriously has now lost their uniqueness.

I’ve eaten in Thai Erawan loads over the years. The quality of food is consistently excellent. I recently visited with a Groupon voucher and had the sharing platter, duck curry and some wine. It was delicious as always. This is my favourite Leeds restaurant by far. Service is excellent and their early bird deal is really cheap.

I absolutely love Thai Erawan. The food is excellent and the service never falters. I would recommend the shared plater starter. It is absolutely delicious. For the main it is a tough choice between the weeping tiger or the green curry. This is my favourite Thai restaurant in Leeds

Thai Erawan is very deceptive in its appearance; from the outside it doesn’t look anything special but the food is incredible! I visited this delightful little restaurant fairly late on a Saturday(booking recommended) with 3 others and although the service wasn’t the quickest the food was completely worth the wait. Honestly, I could eat those prawn cakes and plum sauce every day for the rest of my life! The thai curries were lovely and the soups seemed to have a million different flavours which combined beautifully. I was so full when I left I wasn’t sure I’d be able to fit back out of the door(although that might not necessarily be a bad thing…)

Terrific Thai food. Other places maybe ‘trendier’ but this little place is cool too, laid back atmos, friendly staff, fresh delicious food. Sometimes we have a craving and have been known to pop down a few weekends in a row which means its not too pricey. I can recommend most of the duck curry dishes but my eating companion & I love pretty much everything there. We never feel rushed to eat & get out like some other local Thai places!

This place has just been taken over by management and I am delighted as they are now doing a delivery service, nothing beats lazy than not having to leave the house! I have always loved the chicken satay as it has a slightly spicy sauce but packed with nutty flavour. They have a great selection on offer but time and time again I find myself opting for gang massaman, I just can’t get enough of the rich and creamy coconut sauce with chicken, potato and peanut.

I thought I’d branch out and try some place other than Sukhothai and this wee gem on Roundhay Road was my choice. It has a very relaxed atmosphere with the owner cheerfully bobbing about ensuring things are running well and all the customers look happy and content. I am a sucker for tempura vegetables and try to stay away from pad Thai to branch out into some other avenue of Thai food. This restaurant has plenty to offer, the tempura was great and a good price on top of that. Offers are available on the website and there a Sunday to Thursday offer of 3 courses for under a tenner for meat-eaters and under 9 squid for veggies, excellent.
