Royal Mail Sheepscar Delivery Services

Updated one star because it’s a really fast turn around, and the hours are way more friendly — open until 2.00pm Mon-​Weds (or something like that) now. Not until 10am, which is of course, ridiculous!
Still, if you don’t drive, and live closer to Hyde Park than the back end of Meanwood (near a massive road and some not-​so-​nice areas — especially non-​user friendly if you’re soley à piéd) it’s still located in a really stupid place.
Why is it there? Or, rather, why can’t my parcels be sent to Headingley Post Office?! I’m sure there’s a reason, and I’ll defend the Post Office from being privatised any day of the week, but I also reserve the right to moan about it. Like a true Brit…

Atlantis is easier to find than this place… Sat Nav cannot be trusted as it sends you onto the A61 heading back into town! Twenty minutes of driving loops around town until I found a way back!
That being said there was no queue, and I was in and out within two minutes, and the lady was pleasant enough. Just as well they are open until 20.00 on Wednesdays as most people are endlessly roaming the duel carriageways and one-​way streets of Leeds trying to find it!
If you do have a bit of a wait it’s worth looking at their message board as they had an (unintentionally) amusing poster about what to do when chased/​attacked by a dog! Turns out it isn’t an urban myth about dogs hating Postino Pat!

I hate that little red slip you get through your door when you miss receiving a parcel delivery from the Royal Mail. When I first realised the parcels are kept in the office at Sheepscar I was like, where? Luckily its not actually that far away from the LS6 area, where I have lived most of my time in Leeds. Its on an industrial estate near the A61 and if there weren’t good signs for it I could see myself wandering around warehouses for ages! The opening times are really annoying, I think it is open from 6.30 a.m. until 10 or 11 a.m. for parcel collection depending on the day. Be sure to check before you go down and take the right ID with you!

I usually get deliveries through the Royal Mail servie and cannot say how sick I am of getting a note posted through my door stating I wasn’t home (when I was). They either didn’t bother knocking or using the doorbell or just decided to make a dash for it and not bother!
Anyway, I had to go collect my parcel and was greeted with rude staff who looked thoroughly bored. Probably because they’re as sick as I am with the abundance of undelivered mail…

Most undelieverd parcels and packages that are sent originally to Hyde Park, Woodhouse, Sheepscar, Meanwood and Harehills addresses come here. With your red ticket that is posted through your letter box, amble on down here. The Delivery Office is small, on the back side of the large sorting plant. Be sure to look at your ticket to check opening and closing times, as it is a massive pain if you miss them, even by 5 minutes. I also should warn that the queues are usually pretty long and go out the door, so be sure to be dressed warmly in case you are left out of the cold for 20 minutes. Behind the counter, they work as quickly as they can, and provide a pretty efficient service to each customer. Some fussier members of the public can take longer, and there is a sign that tells you to treat the workers with respect. Fair play, I have seen some nasty people get very angry when they failed to collect their parcel after the specified couple of weeks, demanding to know where it is. Play by the rules, and it’s a brilliant system. If you need your parcel redelivered, there is an email service that you can request this through.
