After plenty of debate in my mind, I’ve only downgraded New China by one star, but let me explain. A few weeks ago I’d had a really long day and I simply couldn’t face cooking. I was already hungry, which isn’t the best time to order food as you sit in wait with baited breath for the doorbell to ring, but I’d resolved to have food delivered to me in my weakened hungered state! I ordered my food via Just Eat, simple and easy, and received the usual notification to say it could be up to 45 minutes before it arrived. The last two times I’d ordered food here it arrived within about 20 minutes, so I was hoping the usual magic would happen. Sadly, it did not. An hour goes by and still no joy. I can be patient. An hour and a half goes by — double the projected delivery time. I call them up. Apparently it had been a busy night but the driver had just left, so it would be about fifteen/twenty minutes. I pointed out that their shop is literally about five minutes in the car away from my house, in a rather disgruntled manner, and then continued my wait. About fifteen minutes later the food arrives. I wasn’t happy, and hunger didn’t help, but at least it was there. The food was of the usual lovely quality — tasty, awesome delicious chips and very generous portions, so there’s absolutely no complaint there. I appreciate everyone has a bad day, and I would definitely order from here again, but perhaps over the phone to try and gauge how long the arrival might take. Nearly two hours after ordering is a little ridiculous, but then at least the food was lovely, and that is a massive plus point. Over all, I’m sure it’s a one-off, but we shall see!

Just got done chowing down on my feast from New China. I have spent the whole day waiting around for repair men to fix my electric shower… that’s another review, but anyhooo I figured I was in no mood to cook so why not try something different. I’m an American transplant in England and I haven’t eaten Chinese food since 2006 in London and it was sadly nothing like I got at home back in the states. So I hadn’t touched it since. Tonight I went out on a limb and tried the Chinese food the north had to offer. It was good. Very simple. Nothing fussy — but very very tasty. I ordered the Kung Po chicken, and Ginger and Spring Onion King Prawns. Both dishes came with a side of Fried Rice or Steamed rice or Chips. I chose fried rice. I also ordered the crispy won ton and some spring rolls with a side of Won Ton and veg soup. They threw in free prawn crackers. All of it was excellent and was just what was in order after a day of dealing with repair men. The portions are very generous so we will get two dinners and two lunches out of it. Bargain ! They were also very prompt. I ordered on Just Eat and while it quotes 45 minutes for delivery. It was actually more like 25 minutes which is very reasonable. I will be ordering again for sure.
