Having been advised by a kindly fellow Unilocaler that Liz Earle would make a good place to Christmas shop I decided to take my Dad here. I’d no need of the kind of products they sell myself, but I knew from the advice I’d been given that mein Papa would get some serious brownie points if he picked up a little something in here. We wandered in, having perambulated through the utterly gorgeous and festively apt Victoria Quarter, and were met with a flurry of customers and sales assistants milling about the clean and well organised shop floor. The products were arranged thematically, in sets; there even being a men’s section to browse at. I’m a bit skeptical when it comes to beauty products such as creams, most specifically anti-aging creams; I don’t believe any cream can actually ever reduce wrinkles — you can’t stop the aging process, that’s why we gradually look older.(Unless you actively intervene with surgery, but that’s a different story…) Nonetheless, I can completely see the positive elements in having a form of «beauty ritual», such as taking the time to clean and moisturise your face and generally care for you skin and body. It feels good, it’s a calming time-out and can help to refresh and revitalise you after a long day! So! On to the products. There was a large range of things to choose from, a lot with large price tags, but all looking rather enticing and pristinely arranged. With all kinds of cleansing products, to moisturising, and more, I’m sure they would cater to any specific, and given how lovely the staff were as we browsed I am certain they would be able to help. We were advised to go upstairs, as we were in search of cheaper Christmas gifts, and sure enough we found a few options at £10 that were incredibly reasonable. Whilst the rest of the upstairs didn’t seem to offer much different to downstairs, as far as I could glean, the bargain Christmas gifts were a real hit. My Dad was convinced and purchased two, and post-Christmas reports were utterly glowing! All in all, I am sure I’ll be back for a browse, and potentially even a future treat for myself!
