It’s not often that I would chance upon this kind of place, but being out in unfamiliar surroundings I happened upon it at lunchtime, and so decided to treat myself to a bag of chips. There’s something about the smell of a good old chippy, it seems to have the ability to make me hungry no matter if I’ve just eaten a three course meal or not! I intended just to go for a bag of chips but invariably ended up going for a piece of fish too and I did not regret that choice. The batter was crispy and melty and the chips were blooming gorgeous. Little bit of vinegar, the good-but-wrong amount of salt(if you catch my drift) and some ketchup. I was in happy-land. Cheaper than most other places and just as satisfying — if you’re in the area go for it and have a cheeky lunch. Yum!

I like this chippy. It’s one of the few businesses in the Holt Park mall that has managed to stay afloat(while changing ownership) for over a decade. It’s well known to anyone in Leeds 16 for serving cheap, honest fish and chips with no frills, and remains as traditional as it was ten years ago. There is nothing modern about this fishery; I’m sure not a single thing has been changed in the past few years, but as they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. A meal here will cost you a fair bit less than some of the more well-placed chippies, such as Brett’s or Bryan’s in Headingley, but the food tastes very similar. There are now certain deals aimed at children and OAPs, offering discounted meals that give pretty good value for money. This fish shop is part of the fabric of Holt Park, and I know I’m not the only one who hopes this place never closes down.

I have been to this shop for many many years and finally Its got new experienced owners it deserves. It’s been a couple of weeks since I last went to the shop however this time I was greeting by a smile from a friendly new owner. He explained that they bought the shop at the end of June 09 and are now serving freshly prepared fish and chips. The food tasted good and it was fresh! Already they are making a difference. Andy the owner mentioned he will be making alot more changes like fixing up the shop, selling pukka pies etc however the first priority was the quality of the food. I’m personally looking forward to the changes as this is a great traditional fish and chip shop for our community. Based on the service and quality of food on that day I give it 4 stars.

Around three times I have come here to eat in 2 years. The reason for that is their bad service. With the change of management this shop is no longer good to come to. Last time coming here it took them over half a hour to make fish and chips for me here. They were not made well at all either. They need to work on improving their services here to keep customers happy. The service in recent time has not been good at all here.

i like it here. its recently changed managment. and they have done wonders with it. saying that. i have had some not so tastay chips. and on a few occasions the woman behind the till didnt understand me. and got my order soo badly wrong. theres often a wait for your food, because they only make what they need, so they dont have sasuages allready in the oven(well never when i go). but yeah. i wouldnt still be going there if i didnt like it
