My friends and I decided to go out for a spot of decadent lunch a few weeks back and we decided to try out Halikarnas. If you’ve not heard of it, it’ll be because it’s a recent newcomer to our grand city, and a welcome one at that I must say. It’s situated in the old Subway, opposite The Wrens, and has a delightful open grill and it’s very bright and airy. We took advantage of their fabulous lunchtime deal, which(if I remember rightly) meant we had a started and main for around ten pounds. The staff who attended to us were a delight, friendly but not overly talkative, and were efficient and polite to boot. I opted for the halloumi starter and I can honestly say it was the most delicious halloumi I’ve ever eaten. I don’t even know how they managed to make it so delicious. It was a generous portion, enough so that all my dining companions could have a try(very generous on my part, I know!) and it was crispy, as if fried, but not in the slightest bit greasy. Yum. For my main I had a lamb dish, for which I’ve forgotten the name but you’d know it if you saw the menu — iskadel?, and once again it was utterly delicious. Everything was freshly cooked, the portions were so big I couldn’t finish and the lamb was literally cooked to perfection. My only vague complaint(if I was looking to complain, which I’m not!) was that once of the sauces with my boyfriend’s starters tasted a little too close to tomato purée, which was a little strong. Other than that the whole experience was wonderful. I highly recommend paying it a visit, especially for such a decent price on the lunch combo, and I know I shall be back for more sometime in the future. The halloumi alone was dream-worthy and I just have to go back, even if for nothing else!
