Friendly staff, extensive vegan/veggie menu, and tastes good too! New favourite take out

Well, I said I’d be back, and here I am updating again. Having spent all day at the glorious steam punk market at Left Bank my cohort and I were in serious need of sustenance. Being as Grove is right around the corner it was the perfect place to grab a pizza. I’ve long been a fan, and usually order for delivery, but popping in and chatting to the staff made it a lovely visit. They’re mega friendly and very welcoming, with plenty of chat about why in the world I wa dressed as a Victorian with goggles on my head.(As I said, I was at a Steam Punk market.) The pizza took about 15 minutes, cooked fresh of course, and is really reasonable at between £6−8. I walked back with the pizza avec le faim d’loup, and as we opened our boxes of delight, it became apparent that these would be every bit as delicious as the aroma had promised. Beautifully cooked, generous in topping, cheesy as you like and fully tasty. Win. Of course, I’m hoping next time I order a curry I won’t find items missing(as with the last order) but I can’t help but be a fan of this marvellous café. Solid, excellent pizza, tasty curry and delightful staff make this a firm favourite on the indie scene for me. The chap did mention that after 20 years of serving late ino the night their hours might change soon, but what a late night’s loss may be, a morning breakfast shall gain a they plan on making delectables of a morning. Happy days!

The Grove is an odd little place. I was never a fan of the décor as it sort of looks and feels like somebody’s kitchen. Fortunately they make up for it with the food. The curries are good, although I remember getting a jalfrezi that was one of the hottest things I’ve ever eaten, and I’m good with spice! The pizzas are very doughy, so if you don’t like that I wouldn’t recommend trying one from here. However I thought it was just a bit different and quite enjoyed it! Worth a go, but won’t be for everyone.

Since I moved house recently, Grove has become my takeaway of choice. As I am greedy, sometimes a bit lazy & the house has been a disaster area due to the moving process, l have prob been a little too keen with the hungry house orders! I’m shocked to say I think Grove chicken pasanda has stolen the place in my heart once reserved for Naeems! Give it a try, good prices & service as well as lovely food.

Recent makeover and this place still looks a bit. Underwhelming. However, the food is spot on and that’s all that really matters. Discovered this place when I started visiting the place directly opposite to it for shisha. Anyway, pizzas are immense and the currys(ive been told…) are quite fab too. A massive thmubs up to the team and the owner that resembles Santa Clause. Yes, really!

It’s an ‘Indian’ restaurant that serves up really nice and fresh curries. I’m Indian and I love the food from here — none of the cheap-and-not-so-cheerful food you get at some of the other places. Try it, you’ll love it. I hope.

I was reluctant to only offer two stars after reading that other Unilocal reviewers had very positive opinions on the Grove Café but I’m going to stay honest, wish me luck! The outside of the Grove is nothing but grim in more ways than one. The exterior was obviously painted on years and years ago, the design is tasteless and the wood is worn by the rain that pelts on it 6 months a year. The location is perfect if you are wanting to get there without a car and live on the edge of the city. Aesthetically however the location is awful, based on the busiest main road in the area the is constant passing traffic and students and subsequently litter outside and honking petrol fumes The food is generally average however it is fair to say they good cook up a yummy and reasonably priced pizza. My boyfriend likes the curries from here because they are scrummy and the cheapest around. Yeah it’s cheap and fairly tasty. Nevertheless I feel that these are not good enough assets for a restaurant to be great(or is it a café, I never really know what niche they are aiming for). I feel when dining out you want to feel pampered and enjoy relaxing in style while eating some good cuisine. Even at cheaper restaurants such as Nando’s and Pizza Hut you feel waited on and you dine in style. Grove doesn’t even nearly achieve this.

It doesn’t look too promising from the outside, its appearance resembling something between a health food shop and a grimy takeaway, but grab one of the few tables by the window in the Grove Café and you’re in for a reasonably-priced treat. The food is a mix of British, Italian and Indian, with the pizzas and curries routinely tastier than what you’d get for twice the price elsewhere. The naan breads are among the best I’ve ever tasted, and there’s a range of vegan pizzas which is great for anyone who doesn’t eat dairy. It’s a family run enterprise, and this is reflected in the friendly service and warm, cosy atmosphere, not to mention the price — you can stuff your face and still have plenty of change from a tenner.

Grove is one of those places that becomes a fixture in people’s lives — mainly because it is in of the student area and revels in mainly student custom, but also because of the quality of the food they offer. Slightly less grimy than its Cardigan Road counterparts, this little place offers a mixture of Indian and English takeaway food, all of which is mouthwatering. They do the best steak and chips you’re likely to get from a takeaway of such stature and at such price, while their naan breads are nothing short of mouth-watering, as are the curries that accompany them. Despite all this, it is probably the pizzas that are the best thing about the Grove. Order one and get it delivered(until 1AM!) and you’ll see what I mean.

This has got to be one of the best takeaways in Leeds. They make the best pizza I’ve ever had — their four cheese pizza is simply gorgeous, just the right combination of crust, tomato and blend of cheese. They also do a fine range of Indian cuisine which lioke the pizza is mouth watering. If you don’t fancy takeway, you can eat in at their small restaurant(5 tables), but either way well worth a visit.
