Charles Clinkard is one of those shoe shops that are essentially boring. The styles here are more often than not safe and sturdy options, favouring comfort over style. Hark the herald cries of fashionistas everywhere screaming in outrage over such a proposition. However, you can see it’s point. Like Clarkes shoes, Clinkard do attempt a stylish or classic look to their shoes, but the foot is valued more over the look of the shoe. Ladies brands favour Gabor and Joseph Siebel, in addition to ladies favourites Ecco. The quality of these types of shoes is excellent, all leather and extremely well made if maybe a tad on the meh side in terms of appearance. The men’s section doesn’t fare much better, but at least it has some trendy Timberlands in it’s aresenal. The main reason to visit Clinkard shoes is the kid’s section. There are a tonne of shoes here for little girls and little boys and even the not so little. Some of the girl’s shoes are adorable, and whereas Clarkes, God love em, tend to be plain, sturdy and safe in many respects, Clinkard’s does some really cute shoes for girls, with purple and green leathers in addition to the standards, and the sandals are so cute. Boy’s shoes are equally adorable, with minature, quality for kid’s versions of grown-up high street styles. Charles Clinkard does some excellent quality shoes, which is reflected in the price, and some of the kid’s ranges go up to £60, and considering the fac they’re not in them for very long, you can see why some may choose a cheaper alternative. Some of the staff in here are absolutely lovely, and from observing how they interact with their customers they have patience of a saint. There’s one battleaxe who I could gladly bounce off a wall, but she(and you’ll know who she is by her visible devil horns protruding) shouldn’t be allowed to let the quality of products and services Clinkard shoes offer.
