All Bar One isn’t crap and it isn’t that good. The place lacks atmosphere like previous posters said, but I suppose it’s a place where you can Talk and chill. big windows and nice tables. The place isn’t cheap but not too expensive. We went in the daytime so our drinks got taken to our seat which was nice. I took my mum in here and she seemed to enjoy it. I guess that sums the place up. All Bar One is a safe place you can take your mum because face it… You can’t take mum in Fab Café or Carpe Diem! Quite a few of the pubs and bars in this area feel like places where businessmen in suits go for a drink after work. These places around this area are just posh Wetherspoons tbh. That posh chain feel. I wouldn’t go back in a rush, but I wouldn’t mind going back. Can tolerate the place more than Slug and Lettuce.

I’m not usually a great fan of chain pubs so just popped in for a quick drink here last Saturday. The place has no atmosphere and the way the tables and stools are arranged makes manoeuvring around a bit difficult. The bar counter was wet(pools of liquid) and there were quite a few empty glasses around. The drinks were fairly standard, no cheap but not the dearest place in town nonetheless. This is not a place I’d make a regular stop on my drinking nights out but when I’ve been for lunch they have a good all-round menu and the food is good quality with good service.

A quick stop at All Bar One was on the menu for a refreshing glass of something alcoholic and a look at the parent’s recent holiday snaps. It took a while for us to find the bar but I will put that down to the fact we don’t know Leeds very well; we soon ended up walking past Betfred’s and the pound shop and realised we were in the wrong place! Luckily we found the correct road and found this All Bar One. Pretty much a standard All Bar One — big windows, nice wooden tables, a range of seating options. I always enjoy All Bar One as it makes me feel all growed up! The over 21 policy is one which rings happily through the hearts of anyone who is over 21 and strikes fear into those who aren’t. Our server was nice and friendly, happy to leave us to it rather than pestering us or attempting to up sell our glasses of pink bubbly. We were tempted by the food options as they allow a bit of everything but we settled on the bubbly, which was lovely and refreshing, just what we needed on a balmy Leeds day whilst looking at photos of the carribean.

All Bar One Sometimes you just want somewhere to have a good natter, drink some good wine or take a short time out from work or shopping. I find All Bar One is a good option for any of those. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Indeed, the price alone may put some people off. For me though it’s a place I’ll meet up with friends once a month, if not really much more than that. Mainly because it’s in a great location, is well decked out and let’s me put the world to rights without a sound track of cheesy chart music droning on it the background. Add some great wines into the equation and we’re onto a winner. I can recommend the organic Sauvignon Blanc or a nice tipple of Pinot. Red wine lovers are well catered for too and if you’re feeling quite flush, splash out on a rich and complex Rioja. The selection of bottled beers and ciders meet my high seal of approval too. Quite simply, the Redkorderlig winter cider is divine. Alas, it’s limited edition so will leave our beautiful lives sometime soon. Much more of meeting bar than a «let’s get the party started» hang out but there is a time and a place for all things in this life.

Walking into All Bar One in a pair of jeans and a shirt is a bit daunting, as even if it’s in the middle of the day you can’t help but notice all the suits tucking into their power lunches and indulging in an ever so naughty glass of white wine of is it apple juice? Either way, you get the impression that city slickers are the catered market in All Bar One. I was very aware of how young I was appearing to everyone. Awkward I think the word is, but as I have previously mentioned I have friends of the vegetarian persuasion and it’s somewhat difficult to cater for vegetarian variety, and the menu promised more than the usual spicy bean burger my friend has to settle for in most food places we venture into. In for a penny in for a pound, we’re staying. Looking around it is hard not to notice the high ceilings and sense of space usually lost in a lot of bars around the city. We were pouring over the menu and after about 5 to 10 minutes of pondering, we were on our way off our bottoms to the bar when someone came over to take our order, nice touch I thought. A glance at the menu and you can see that All Bar One sets itself apart from the collective of pub grub or bar food. It’s not a beef burger, but a beef and coriander burger, and it doesn’t come with cheese and onions, but camembert and caramelised onions. Interpret what you will. Veggie so shocked with having a choice chose to opt for the falafel, mushroom, hummus stack. My burger came in at £9, Veggie’s came in at £7. Reasonable prices I believe for food. Good portion size, with a better than average taste to it. Can’t complain really. Well, we can, alcohol is crazy expensive in All Bar One, glass of dry white wine will cost you on average about £6. Owch. A beer will sting you in the pocket for the £3.50 — owch twice times. And if spirits are your thing, Double Jack Daniels(50ml) is approaching the £4, and that doesn’t include the mixer. The alcohol is wide in it’s variety with many beers to choose from, and if you’re up for splashing the cash, the cocktails menu is worth a look over, although a pitcher would probably be better value for money, just ask how many glasses there are per pitcher, otherwise you could be a bit pocket sore. The staff seem relatively nice, if not a little bit shocked you’re not in a power suit, but if you’re like me you won’t really care how they look at you as long as the atmosphere is good and the food is better. It’s missing that something that you can’t put your finger on, but if it were there you’d shout«ahhh» in unison. Good effort for trying to set yourself apart, but I’m sticking at 3 Stars due to lack of «ahhh».

On more than one occasion now, when hovering around town and feeling peckish and parched, it has become a running joke to walk past All Bar One and say, «All Bar One?» which is then followed by a fit of giggles and ‘WHEY!!‘s. I think that just about sums up mine and my friends terrible senses of humour, but if I’m honest, I was never quite sure why we did it. I felt that I was trying to cover up the fact i didn’t quite understand, in fact, yes, I was doing just that. You see, the only time I had ever been there, it was a first year of Uni Wine Tasting event I was pushed into by a dear friend. I had a reasonable time! The venue was dimmed and subdued, possibly even closed to normal business, and i could not have really hoped for much of a contrast to my regular nights, which normally included me perched at my hall bar, nursing a pint of Carlsberg. Utterly bewildered by the running joke I had somehow become a part of, I decided to go. Alone. For lunch. Walking in, I knew I was familiar with the creams and greens of the bar space, but what struck me was the number of ladies who lunch and business men sneakily wolfing down a bit of a lunchtime tipple. Approaching the bar, I somehow felt comfortable. Despite the fact I was not top to toe in a high end Marks and Sparks or Versace suit, I had one thing in common with the majority of people in there, I was on my own. When I caught a glimpse of the menu, the prices shocked me. The drinks are ridiculously expensive, and the food is more than one would normally expect in a bar. I’m not bothered if they want to jazz up their menu using extra spices and techniques, save that for the evening meals! I suppose I may have overreacted somewhat, as they were still less than you’d be paying at a high street chain such as Pizza Express, for example. I think what puzzled me was the fact that it was a little extravagant an eatery to frrequent on ones own for lunch, if you want something special, why not go the whole hog and go to a swanky restaurant, or failing that, make your own lunch! I could only hope that someone was late and meeting them in 5. The food itself was lovely. My rumbling belly was very ready for food, and it was better than I had anticipated. If you are out for an evening and want somewhere a little more upmarket to go to, I would look elsewhere if I’m honest, as there are better venues to go to. If you are or are approaching middleaged however, and fancy meeting some likeminded folk, this might be more up your street.

I have been to All Bar One in Leeds on three occasions but have only eaten there once. Unfortunately I have only been there on a Saturday. I always go after the rush at 2pm when it is less busy. No one acknowledges your existence on arrival and you can sit for quite some time before being asked if you would like anything to drink or eat. Last Saturday I gave them 10 minutes and walked out. The food I had there on an earlier occasion was quite good. The waiting staff are friendly enough when they serve you. The trick is to get served in the first place. I have given up on this place which is a shame.

This is an ok kind of bar, but it feels like it lacking somthing. The kind of place you go on a route round town, but dont make a special effort to visit! Normally just suited types that have stopped to long after work, as they cant face the wife yet. I dont know why but the conversation is always that loud that you find your self shouting to be heard. The drinks are quite pricey too !!!

I found this to be a comfortable bar lacking any sort of attitude — so many bars in Leeds have a certain something which makes you feel unwanted, but not here. There’s a good selection of drinks here and I was amazed at the prices of some of the bottles of Champagne which seemed as cheap as you’d find in an off license(can’t comment on the price of glasses of wine though!). They had some interesting ciders when I was there and the large tables were perfect for crowding round and have a good natter. One to go back to again and again I think.

All Bar one is located at the bottom of Greek Street(depending on where you’re coming from) and is one of those suity places where all the suits go and talk about the stock exchange or similar topics. I popped in here on Friday on route to get my train home as I’ve not been in for ages. I opted for a large glass of wine and didn’t really pay attention to which one, just asked for a dry white wine. Then came the painful part, paying for it. It cost me the princely sum of £5.90! Yes, that’s £5.90 for a large glass of white wine, not the bottle, just a glass of average dry white wine! It might be because I’m a Yorkshire lass through and through but I found this extremely expensive and overpriced for a glass of wine so I don’t think I’ll be venturing in here again for a while as I’m now having to remortgage my house.
