Market House Cafe

This review is about the Market House Café BEFORE it changed hands (on 12^th April 2011 I believe). Only time will tell if it remains as good or even improves.
This is our favourite café in Ledbury and we go in there nearly every Saturday for coffee during the kids’ ballet and quite often for lunch. Food is good and reasonably priced, especially kids meals. A kids sandwich is around £2 and they have a good selection of paninis and sandwiches and specials. Their omelettes are delicious.
The two reasons that the café didn’t get 5 stars are that, when it’s busy, the food is a long time coming. It’s worth it in the end and generally the staff will let you know how long it’s likely to be (and they’re normally pessimistic about it; it normally arrives before they said it would). The other minor gripe is the men’s toilet; I can’t get in and shut the door without rubbing against the pan.
As I said above, I believe the café changed hands on 12^th April. I hope that they will continue to offer as good value for money and quality as Richard (the previous proprietor) did. I’ve seen many cafes go to the dogs after a change of hands like this :-(

Busy Café right in the centre of Ledbury.
Friendly helpful staff. Nice freshly ground coffee at reasonable price for a Tourist Town. Didn’t sample the food but they have a good selection of food from breakfasts to sandwiches, Panninis to Chili con carne! Dearest meal £6.90.
Wide selection of freshly baked cakes.
Clean tables, chairs & surroundings. Nice and warm on what was a cold February morning.
Went for a top up for my coffee, 50p! Excellent!
Overall good value and would recommend to anyone seeking value for money.
Family friendly

A really lovely little café, warm and clean, food was outstanding, very generous and far more of it than we expected, with good quality ingredients. I would recommend this café to anyone, we ate alongside cycllists, motorcyclists, teenagers and families and felt welcomed and well-​looked –after. Food was good value for the standard received.
