Without exaggeration, the worst dining experience I’ve ever had to endure, and I lived and worked in Guantanamo Bay for two years.(That’s actually not even a joke.) The food was bland at best, and inedible at its worst. Claiming to be some sort of one stop buffet for multiple cuisines, it’s mainly awful Indian food, which in my opinion could be better replaced with something from the Tesco by the train station. Most everything on the buffet seemed very old. Not hours old, more likely days old. Salads, «nachos»(stale tortilla chips and crusty old melted cheese,) pizza… everything was just awful. Yes, even the pudding. And in the end, the food was probably the best part of our experience. The staff, which shouldn’t even really be a factor at a buffet, seemed to be actively ignoring the handful of customers populating the vast dining room, either disappearing in the back, or chatting around the till. Just to order drinks, we had to get up and find our waiter, only for him never to return. It was actually so difficult to get the bill and then get him to come back so we could pay the bill, that for the first time in my life I honestly considered getting up and just walking out. It seemed like no one working there would even notice or care, and I certainly didn’t feel like paying after our so-called«meal.» We did eventually pay once we tracked down an unapologetic manager of some sort, and fled from the establishment as quickly as possible. Oh, and one more thing. The price. Oh god, the price. For something like £15 each,(plus drinks, etc) I would have expected something actually decent, even for a buffet. Lesson learned Jimmy, lesson learned! Reading the older reviews of Jimmy Spice’s, I presume we either went on a VERY off night, or things have gone downhill in recent years. Either way, enter at your own risk!

Finding the right words to describe the experience that is Jimmy Spice’s is not an easy task. I’ve lived in the Midwest of the United States for over the past 8 years, the bastion of mediocre ethnic food offerings, yet I grew up in India and am acutely aware of the magnificence of the culinary heritage of my people and one expects this excellence in the curry houses across Britain more often than not. However, Jimmy Spice’s outdoes all of them. A £15 buffet offers you an all you can eat culinary debauchery with everything from Biryani and Chicken tikka(Divine!!!) to Dosas(those are made on the spot!) to vegetarian curries. The food was so good that I might just have to make another trip to England just to indulge in this goodness! Jimmy Spice’s keep doing what you’re doing, don’t ever change!

If you find yourself in Epsom needing to feed a lot of people Jimmy Spice’s might be worth a shot. But with bland, unimpressive food it doesn’t have an awful lot else to recommend it. In most circumstances you’ll be much better off going to a restaurant specialising in one cuisine, and if you specifically want a multinational all-you-can-eat buffet you’re much better off taking a trip to Cosmo in Croydon.

If you know what you’re looking for, Jimmy Spice’s can fit the bill. Lots and lots of variety, 70% of which is mediocre, 10% pretty dang good, and the rest you really shouldn’t touch. It’s a buffet, after all, and judging by the huge crowd that was there on a week night, I’d say it’s going to make it just fine.

Interesting idea, £15 all you can eat buffet combining Indian(obviously the good bits are Pakistani), Chinese, Italian and Mongolian wok(pick ingredients and they cook) along with desserts. The food and pricing were reasonable but it was a weird experience with everything from two large hen parties to families having dinner with their kids. I guess there aren’t many restaurants in this corner of Surrey. The food was good, although I never reached the Italian or Mongolian sides as I maxed out after two plates. The downside was the noise, it is so loud you can barely manage to be heard across the table. All in all, you should think of this in the same category as Pizza Hut’s all you can eat, even down to the seating booths, but with the bonus of three additional cuisines.

I’m not so sure, its a nice idea having lots of food in one place and seeing it all being cooked is a nice touch. However I would say that the food is average and its a bit of everything not the bes of everything. I think there are better buffets of most of the available food in the area and mainly at better prices. I’d reccomend it for a family who all have different tastes

this is an excellent eat-as-much-as-you-like buffet restaurant. its cheap, clean &child-friendly. they serve indian, chinese, thai & italian food mostly cooked right there infront of you using fresh fruit & veg. brilliant if youve got fussy children like mine-they cater for everyone. the service is very good but drinks can be a bit expensive£3.00 for a bottle of water!

Culinarians of the world, look at Jimmy Spice’s and quake. For therein we may find the future of British dining. Jimmy Spice’s is the first South Eastern outpost of a Midlands chain of restaurants offering multi-cuisine dining. Having opened in October 2007, they’ve done so well that the next restaurant is about to open in Stratford imminently. Everytime I walk past this restaurant, it is full and sadly, Lal Akash, one of the best Indian restaurants in Epsom, just a few doors down, has just gone out of business. To be fair, Jimmy Spice’s is an ideal venue for a big group as its pioneering idea is to offer Italian, Indian and Oriental dishes all in the same restaurant, thus eliminating fighting over which cuisine to choose. The restaurant does cope well with the huge turnover at busy periods and I rarely find that food dishes stay empty for long. They also try to create some excitement, especially for kids, by offering live cooking stations for ‘create your own Chinese stir fry’, a fresh pasta station and fresh masala dhosas and naan being made to order. There is quite a good choice of dishes on offer, divided into starters, main courses, accompaniments and desserts all arranged around an open kitchen where you can see the chefs busy chopping, mixing and stirring. However, I feel that the food is all toned down to be middle of the road. The Italian, Indian and Oriental elements all seem to be dulled down to be more generic, which is a shame. There is a small bar area serving cocktails. My mango lassi was severely watered down, which is perhaps a perfect description of the dining experience here. I would rather choose a cuisine and go to that specialist restaurant for the real monty! Look out in the local papers for their frequent money off vouchers.

I really liked the concept of Jimmy Spices — all you can eat cuisines from around the world — however they couldn’t quite pull it off. The actual restaurant is fantastic, but the food is terrible. There are huge pots of food for you to help yourself to, but the food is lukewarm, greasy and bland. I felt ill after trying the fried rice and thai curry, but I wanted to get my money’s worth so I tried some of the finger foods and they were just as bad. It’s a real shame as £12.95 for a buffet seems like a good deal, but it’s a waste of money if the food is awful. I would advise you spend your money elsewhere.

It does what it says on the tin. It’s a World Buffet and there’s a bit of something for everyone! At Jimmy Spices you pay a set price £12.95 Sun — Weds eve(£6.95 kids under 10) £14.95 Thurs — Sat(£6.95 kids under 10) and you can go and help yourself to a wide selection of foods. Curries from Asia, Sushi from Japan, pasta and pizza from Italy, Stir fries cooked to order, salads, noodles and far more. Drinks are paid for seperately but no more expensive than any local bar. The restaurant itself is lovely and can seat about 200 people so enough room if you want to book for a celebration. It’s a good idea to book a table if you don’t want to be disappointed. The staff are helpful and efficient. It’s the perfect place to start your night out in Epsom.
