Ive always liked coffee. Most recently I’ve become obsessed with it !!! My housemate used to work in a independent coffee shop, they kind of convinced me that shit bucks and cost a lot coffee is pretty rubbish! This is a good independent coffee shop, I’ve been here a few times but they seem of have changed the beans which I feel has improved the quality by far!!! The service is speedy, staff are friendly, it’s one of the better independent coffee shops in the area! Downside, it’s quite cramped if it’s super busy. But I kind of like that in some way!

Coffee quality and service has substantially dropped which is a great tragedy. New staff and maybe cheaper beans? If I want bitter, overly hot coffee I’ll go to Costa thanks. My last time was today after going 2−3x every week for over a year. No one wins.

I was disappointed by Local Hero after finally arriving while it was open for once. The other(chain) coffee shops in Kingston open until the evening so I can get a coffee after work, but local hero seems to always be closed as I walk past. Excited, I walked in(trying not to knock over the small, rickety tables) and gazed at the board above the register — the coffee options were confusing and there were no signs for non-dairy milk so I went for the safe option of a smoothie. The drink was quite nice but expensive at £3.90 for a cup barely bigger than my(small) hand. The cashier seemed to be annoyed at my reading of the board and didn’t make eye contact at all. Overall, it looks a nice place to go for coffee until you go inside and realise how small it is and how expensive the drinks are.

The best coffee in Kingston by far, so pleased they seem to be keeping up with the big chains.

Got this from Unilocal.Very good, the breakfast was yummy, the bannana bread was out of this world, too bad my daughter ate most of it, should have bought another one.

Great coffee, food and speedy service. We came here for breakfast and were all really impressed with the quality of the food for breakfast, and it was served promptly. In addition the breakfast smoothies(oats, berries, banana and milk) were really tasty and could be eaten as an on-the-go breakfast. One minor drawback is that the café is a little bit cramped and the tables are on the small side, but this was no problem in the morning as it wasn’t too busy. A top quality café.

Nice breakfast, great coffee and pleasant atmosphere. Not the cheapest breakfast but was very tasty.

The perfect location for a coffee break in the centre of Kingston. The coffee is excellent and the Natas are just irresistable. On my first day in Kingston I went there twice because I just had to have a secound one. What else? Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Keep up the good work Local Heros!

Great place to have breakfast in Kingston. Staff are really professional and very friendly and always greet you with a smile. They remembered us from our last visit months before. Highly recommended. I always prefer it to avoid using the big corporate coffee places.

My stay here was nice, yet not perfect. The selection of coffee drinks and breakfast options is wide and it all looked nice but there was just something missing. I did not like the way too close positioning of the tables and if the place gets too crowded you end up hearing everything your neighbor by table has to say.

Probably best coffee shop in Kingston! It’s a bit pricey, but it’s worth the treat if you want a very nice coffee!

I want to be really positive about this café. I live only 2 mins away and until relatively recently it did live up to the name. The seating remains informal and cosy, the staff are pleasant enough and the menu full of choice covering hearty breakfast, more sophisticated light lunch and appetising pastry. Sadly though, despite these solid foundations, something has gone v wrong recently. The quality of the food has hit an all time low they couldn’t even put up a half decent bacon and egg the other week and the staff, despite being pleasant, have lost their warm smiles and charm. Its happened quite slowly since their restaurant refresh bringing slightly more seating and all of a sudden you realise you are eating there less and travelling further afield to eat in someone else’s local instead of yours. Its no longer a local treasure and more a place to feed the masses coming to Kingston to do their shopping less about quality and more about quantity. The shoppers won’t be coming back soon, and nor will I. A shame as I used to rave about this place to my jealous friends!

i LOVE local hero. their teas and lemon honey zinger thing are fab. the breakfasts are legit, and so are the jacket potatoes. a nice, homey atmosphere to chill out or to drown your sorrows in a cup of tea. and the servers are lovely. sigh, this place. how i miss it so. the menu’s got plenty of options without being too crazy. you get the basics, and the basics are done right. Local Hero’s a popular independent coffee shop located right in the heart of the shopping district in Kingston. It’s always crowded, and, one day, desperate for proper coffee, I came in here to try it out. Much to my surprise, they had flat whites, as well as paper cups branded with their own name across them(always a nice touch, as opposed to the plain ol’ generic paper cup). Still, the coffee doesn’t quite compare to what you can get in central London, which is why I’m only giving this place — one of the better ones in Kingston — a three out of five.

Best espresso, lattes and machiatos I’ve had outside of Italy. I haven’t eaten there yet but the food and the menu looked like it deserves a try next time around. Good comfortable place to chill out as well. Don’t know if they have wifi. I was too blown away about the coffee. The guy thought I was taking the piss but it was really that good.
