I haven’t reviewed anything this year. Yeah. Bad innit? Well, when there’s a lot of catching up to do, it’s best to start with something familiar, and Ha Ha Bar is definitely that. Although it is definitely overpriced, it does have regular evening deals on cocktails, wine and, if I remember correctly, bottles of Becks, which can reduce the damage somewhat. The location is fab. It sits firmly astride the mighty Thames which makes it a lovely spot on long summer nights. It has a fair amount of outdoor seating as well as sofas(inside, of course) so is a good shout for larger groups. I’ve only ever eaten two dishes under Ha Ha’s roof, the nachos(so so, but I’m a nacho snob. Yeah, I said it) and the rather awesome Chicken and Butternut Squash salad. I’ve ordered it three times and normally I’m pretty experimental when it comes to menus. If you’re in town, I’d check it out. So, there you have it. 2010’s first review. In August. My head is already hanging in shame before you quite rightly direct me to do so.

Poor is the best I can say. I ate here recently with a friend, at 7:30 they had run out of potatoes so I had to have overdone chips with my mediocre steak. My friends description of their orange squash risotto was it looked like someone had just thrown up… and it was 20p more expensive than the Risotto at Jamie Olivers five mins down the street! Presentation and attention to detail was genuinely appalling. The only positive note was the friendly waitress.
