Evans Cycles

Really disappointing place. My daughter bought a brand new bike in this shop, had to go back for a repair but was treated very badly by staff who avoided repairs and act like sniggering teens. Avoid!

Guys, The service I received at Evans (Kingston Branch) has been terrible this evening. We ordered two ‘brand-​new’ Brompton folding bikes and were called today to collect. On arrival, it was clear that there were several scratches and defects on one of the bikes this was clearly the shop display bike we turned downed when we first looked at the bikes. The response from the shop staff was incredible There is a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance that a bike may arrive with some form of defect on it they couldnt guarantee that the bike would be brand new despite my specific request. Another assistant described his own experience with a new frame and said that this minor damage was acceptable. The problem with the bike was also compounded by the fact that they messed up the finance and in all we were in the store for well over an hour trying to resolve these problems. Given the relatively high cost of these bikes, I would expect better care be taken of these in shop and certainly not to be fobbed off with lame excuses. Overall, the Kingston branch of Evans is by far the worst of the many branches I have used AVOID

Ordered a bike in and it came in dented. How could no one have noticed this when putting it together?
Returned the bike, was phoned that another one was in, came in to the shop and it was dented again in the same place. Assume Evans never bothered to return the original one.
Now the bike has been discontinued in the Evans store. I’ve been in and the dented bike is for sale on the shop front at FULL PRICE– absolutely disgusting!

I confess that I’m a keen runner/​walker rather than an enthusiastic cyclist but I couldn’t resist a nose-​around this recently expanded store. It seems to be a dream site for aficionados, with plenty of bikes on special offer and a dazzling array of accessories for every conceivable aspect of enhancement or safety.
I especially enjoyed inspecting the clothing rails and discovered an excellent choice of colourful and practical neoprene and lycra tops and bottoms. I was very tempted by some of the stylish jackets and tee shirts but reluctantly the high (specialist) price ranges steered me away. Staff are on-​hand to impart their knowledge and advice but are happy to allow the ‘just-​looking’ free-​rein.
