When Rupert Murdoch died in the Canary Islands on his yacht, people asked«who would Killmurdoch?» And so this football team was founded as part of the investigation. First-Hand Experience: I’ve seen Killie play live in person 3 times, including twice at this stadium and I absolutely loved it. They’re a great bunch, wonderful crowd, fantastic atmosphere, rain or shine, no matter who the opponent. I could not have any higher regard for this club and hence the 5 stars. *** return to regular review *** Ayr may be the county town of Ayrshire, but Kilmarnock is the biggest team in the region. Known as Killie, they even have their own brand of food: Killie Pies. Very delicious steak pies that are *only* sold at the stadium and were voted the most delicious pies in all of football. They were formed way way way back in 1869 and play in a massive stadium to 18k people. They recently won the Scottish League Cup beating Celtic in the final in 2012, so they have some real recent success in a land where most clubs don’t. They play in ugly dark blue but you can’t have everything. They are the oldest club in Scotland and one of the best. They won the Scottish League just once, in 1965, their greatest achievement. They were runners up 4 times, in 4 of the 5 years before they won it, in fact. Thank goodness they finally went all the way(that’s what she said). They have won the coveted Scottish Cup three times, in 1920, 1929, and famously in 1997, so well done! They’ve been SC runners up 5 times and SLC runners up 5 times including 2001 and 2007. At their 6th attempt, they finally won the SLC in 2012 as aforementioned.

Excellent football club and stadium in Kilmarnock, Scotland. My husband was born & raised in Kilmarnock and is a major Killie fan — of course! We were recently guest commentators at the stadium on the Ayrshire Hospitals Radio Network. We even had a press pass, ate Killie pies and got a photo with our headsets on! This was one of the most exciting moments of our lives. A very special thanks to Mike Manley who made my husband’s dream come true!!! And a big plus… KILLIE won the game! :)

5 stars… mainly for the quality of the«Killie Pie»… a steak pie unparalleled by any other pie in British Football(although it is just shaded by the Stephens Bridie at Dunfermline). Nice wee ground(big by Scottish standards) which retains good atmosphere and character despite it being an all-seater.

Ayrshire’s premier team !!! Kilmarnock play in the SPL which is the top league in scotland. They have a great stadium which holds around 18,000 although average crowd is closer to 6500. Their open days are legendary and a fantastic day out for the family even those not interested in football. At teh open days you get to go pretty much anywhere in the stadium, mingle with the players, coaches and managers and their is many other events around as well. their is a sports bar under the stadium for a small refreshment on match days and the park hotel whcih is owned by the club is within the stadiums boundries. A local club at the heart of the community.
