Free roaming sheep, ample romping grounds for children, friendly and helpful staff/volunteers, well maintained and interesting gardens, café features produce from the vegetable garden, free parking … the actual viewable part of the castle is rather limited although still interesting. would recommend for a wide variety of visitors

The normal National Trust shop, good castle and gardens and a stunning tea room, helpful staff whereever you go on the estate. Well worth a visit

A pleasant place to visit. Small but well kept gardens, with a small rockery style garden as the centre piece, there are two ponds, one to the side of the house and a duck pond. There is a lovely restaurant and many of the vegetables used in the restaurant are grown in the gardens. There is a quiz for the children inside the castle, well 3 quizzes actually dependent on the age of the children. They also do various specials, ie halloween and christmas where activities for children are available in the barn. The castle is being restored at the moment, so some of the outside is obscured by scaffolding, but that doesnt affect the enjoyment.
