I had 2 hours to lose waiting for a train so I had a choice of the ‘upper crust’ on the platform or seeing what was going on in the big outside world. Asking a taxi driver at the rank outside«where is the best café in town». I was directed to Jacks Café half a mile from the station(left) opposite Glasswells. It was a nice walk on a hot day and helped pass the time. The place was half full of taxi drivers and other locals, which is normally a good sign. I had a very good cup of tea acompanied with a toasted tea cake all for £1.40. There was plenty of choice for home cooked meals and fast foods at reasonable prices. And the service was very pleasant and it seemed nothing was too much trouble. I probably wouldn’t take my mum there, and if you don’t like the look of the place there is always Macdonalds opposite. Anyway by the time I had read the free paper and walked back it was time for my train. I wouldn’t pay a visit again if it was raining, but otherwise the exercise would always do me good.
