Oh, it’s a long, winding walk without signs. It’s probably a long steep walk up to the top of Pirn Hill from Innerleithen on the best of days, but we had no idea where we were going, and eventually scrambled up the hill using a relatively used short cut. It’s a beautiful view back down to the flat valley floor, and you get an idea of what a lovely location Innerleithen has. On the top was an Iron Age fort, although now, it is a set of stone carvings — for me, it was a bit of a letdown, expecting something a little more exciting than 20th century cairns with some markings to describe what used to be there. None the less, it’s a pleasant way of working off lunch.
