Went her with my wife for a date night before our first child arrives. when we turned up we were greeted by a very friendly manager who sat us down and then closed the door to stop any drafts. our server was one of the best i have had at any restaurant attentive but not pushy and friendly but not trying to hard. the food was ok but not worth the price £7 for 4 asparagus stalks and one poached egg. and the lobster pasta mains was a joke. about 4 little bits of lobster and they stuck half a shell underneath to make it look like there should have been more anf all for £20. the service warrants 5⁄5 stars amazing but the overpriced and underwhelming food bring it down unfortunately. Stick to Bistro Saigon if you go to Ilkley

The new Roof Terrace is one of the best places to go for a drink or bite to eat in Ilkley. It can get very busy as it the place to be at the moment. The heaters keep you warm no matter what the weather decides to do and I have heard rumours that there is a retractable roof going on soon too. Perfect :-)

This is a beautiful restaurant, they have really done a good job refitting the place. But then you only need to look at Restaurant Bar and Grill in Leeds to know that this chain mean business. For me Piccolino is ok italian food and at high price. I have been on a couple of a occasions to the Ilkley one and recieved very bad service on one and very good service on another — both times were equally busy, perhaps it depends on the staff. The food is just ok, I can’t say its great, it smacks of chain restaurant i’m afraid and I would rather go to Pizza Express. Strange I don’t like Piccolino because I do like Restaurant Bar and Grill a lot. Oh well.

We went to the York location & had a lovely meal with wine for a reasonable price. All of our requests were catered to and the food was delicious. We had the Parmagano Pizza & the carbonara(egg on top included!), which my dinner partner assured me was one of the best he’s had.

My stomach is talking to me again. It has had a firm old word and told me to sort it out with some treats of the highest order. Well when a stomach talks to you, you either have to check into those padded walled rooms or listen to it. I went for the latter and some cheese action at Piccolino. With my best fake(and rather foolish) Italian accent I head on down. I love this venue. Not too far from those beautiful rolling hills and famous moors, it’s in Ikley and it is Italian food served the real way. We’re talking woodstone ovens here. It’s nice to start with some traditional antipasta and then I move on to the pizza baby. It’s all about the pizza and for me the goats cheese one is out of this world. Great bit of cheese action if I say so myself. There are plenty of other options too from fish to meats and it’s just how an Italian should be. Simple yet delicious. Try save some room for the array of sweet delights and I’m always partial to a nice coffee served with the hard stuff after. Good service, great venue and as to be expected cracking wine list. It’s not cheap but it’s not the worst either. Plenty to sing about here in a good Italian operatic tone(or lack of).

This is not a pizza hut experience at all! Piccolino offers a friendly Italian atmosphere and gorgeous traditional Italian menu that almost transports you to Italy when dining! What I love about eating at Piccolino is the chic décor without feeling like the venue it too overly formal! A true taste of Italy in every sense of the phrase is offered here. The menu is varied with something for everyone. Don’t like an ingredient? The Italian chefs will cook it how you want it. If you do decide to eat here you have to try the traditional garlic bread which unlike the greasy rolls you get in the supermarket is a crisp, beautiful flat bread which is just divine as a starter. All the mains(Secondi) are just as tasty. The chefs make a mean mushroom risotto if you aren’t a pizza fan! If you are eating at Piccolino you must get a desert, and it must be Tirimusu… very, very, very tasty and only £2.95. The prices are expensive. For a drink, starter, main and desert you are looking at around £18 a head. If you want to treat yourself however this is a perfect treat. Sit by the window and watch the hustle and bustle of the city, while you sit in your classy surroundings, sipping on Italian red wine. Lovely!

Piccolino’s is one of the better Italian restaurant chains in the country(I’m thinking it surpasses Bella Italia for sure), and having tried the restaurants in Liverpool and Leeds city centre I decided to try Ilkley’s own Piccolino. A relatively new edition to Ilkley’s restaurant scene(it used to be a pub/bar/eatery called Johnson’s) it is in a building which gives quality views over the moors — I know this from when it was Johnsons, unfortunately I couldn’t get a seat by the window this time. And it was lunchtime! Yes, it was very busy at lunchtime, but that’s because it’s very, very good, especially if you regard Italian food in the same way I do — i.e., the best cuisine in the world. The pastas and more adventurous dishes all sounded great but knowing my Piccolino’s, I went for a garlic bread pizza followed by another pizza(pollo) for my main. Their pizzas truly are some of the best you can get, and, other than Salvo’s in Headingley, I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather have on than at a Piccolino’s. Little pricey though.
