On our first ever trip to Huntingdon today my eight year old daughter and I tried this place for lunch. We have found the place to always go whenever we visit again! She had the kiddie chicken nuggets and chips, I had the cheese burger and chips. Both came with a small side salad. We also both had hot chocolate. She declared it «the best hot chocolate I ever had» because she was cold. I’d call it perfectly lovely hot chocolate at a reasonable price. What impressed me in particular was the large portion size for the cost. This place delivers tremendous value. Further, I’d been craving good, thick, hot, properly crispy chips/fries for ages and Gallery delivered. My burger was also very nice — nothing special or fancy, just nice, tasty, beefy, and with a good blanket of cheddar on top. My daughter deemed her nuggets«delicious». This isn’t a fancy place where you can pick between ten different gourmet cheeses for your burger. Those places are okay, but sometimes you just want to sit down and eat with your kid without fuss. The staff were friendly throughout, it wasn’t very crowded(although the man at the Cromwell Museum said it can get very crowded during holiday season, but he said he also loves the place and it’s worth braving the crowds), the tables and chairs were clean and comfortable. Back in the US this would be considered a good quality diner, so if you’re visiting the UK looking for that sort of thing with some more British offerings, this is the place to go. I happen to have a soft spot for Delft blue plates so that just made it perfect. Do note that it’s called Café du Gallery at the location and on the website, but Gallery Restaurant on Google Maps. It’s all the same place.
