After checking out several museums, the lot of us decided to swing by. The Lion and Key is conveniently located near the museums in Hull. The place was busy when we arrived mid-afternoon for something to eat. Food service didn’t start until 5(I was hungry so I was a little bummed) but the beer and atmosphere were good so we decided to wait out the hour. They have one of the larger beer selections I have seen in England. I let Mike order my first beer — it ended up being a nice bitter. I had a difficult time choosing what to drink for my second pint but settled on a holiday ale with cinnamon in it. My mom isn’t a beer drinker but fortunately they had wine so she was happy. When the food arrived, we were very happy that we stuck around. Dad had a nice spicy chili — one of the best, if not the best, he’d ever had. Mom devoured her Shepard’s pie with no complaints(this is a big win since she is a tough critic). Mike enjoyed his chibby special and pattie(herbed potatoes mashed and fried into a patty). He said it was some of the best fish and chips he’d had. My tart was really good(even though it looked more like a pizza than a tart). The cheese was gooey, the onions and peppers were a little sweet, and the crust was golden brown and flaky. If I ever make it back to Hull, I am eating here.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. Ever. Large portion size one could split with a friend. Very nice bartenders too. Many beers on tap and lots of liquor options.
