Bobs Heal & Key Bar

I frequently get keys cut and shoes repaired here. I have always had good service and Bob is a lovely man always willing to help.

I would give zero stars if I could. I have NEVER had worse service. I took in two pairs of boots to be heeled several months ago. The heels came off — one pair lasted 2 weeks, the other never more than half an hour. The boots have been repeatedly re-​heeled with no better result. «Bob» (if it is he) said that these were modern boots, impossible to mend. When I pointed out that, to the contrary, they were quite old & had been repaired regularly, he changed tack & said they were old & past it! Eventually I got a verbal agreement from him that he would give me a refund if I brought the boots in. So I did — & was refused a refund! This was almost certainly because there were several customers in the shop & «Bob» did not want to back down. Now he says if I get them heeled elsewhere he’ll pay. Would you take this man’s word? I won’t — this is going to Trading Standards.

Prices are reasonable however as this shop is only manned by tyhe cobbler himself, there is normally a wait — sometimes the next day for collection of shoes!
