I eat here at least once each time I’m in Halifax on business. Tamanna’s has a great selection of dishes, the service is laid back, you are never rushed, and the food quality is outstanding. It’s a tad more expensive than what I’d normally spend for a full dinner at an Indian place in here SW Virginia, but it’s worth it for the really top shelf dining experience. The dining room is cozy, the seats are pretty comfy, the dishes and silverware are always spotless, they have a reasonable beer selection – put it all together, and what more could you want? Given the ambiance of the place, I’m thinking this isn’t a restaurant where you ‘d be bringing the whole family, this is more of a place where you’d go for a night out with your significant other or take your clients there for dinner after a long day of meetings. The guy who runs the place remembers me each time I come in, which is generally 2 – 4 times a year. I’m not sure how he does it, but then I guess there’s not too many Americans eating there. I’m not too sure about the parking situation, though, as I usually just walk down to Tamanna’s from Briar Court – that’s where I always stay when I’m in Halifax – since it’s just down the block on the other side of the street from the hotel.
