I used to work in the area so have used the store before. I was nearby and having problems with hose fittings and remembered how helpful they are. They spent ages trying to find the fitting I needed, sadly they didn't have the fitting in stock. Brydens, if you are reading this, to connect an outside tap hose fitting to push in accessories, you need Hozelock 2170 Flat Hose and Spiral Hose Adaptor. Thank you for your help. I would have asked if you could order in, but wouldn't be in the area again to collect.

There’s no doubt that Brydens has the most comprehensive inventory of DIY products that any DIY shop has ever carried… EVER. Ok, perhaps not, but if you’re talking how many items they have in here per square foot, then they definitely win hands down, their stock even spills out the door. I have not idea where they put it when the close at night… Many household items of mine have been replaced by Bryden’s. The doormat outside our front door, our shower curtain, our doorknobs and even our bathroom bin. Great prices and a friendly service have kept this place open for decades.

A must for D.I.Y. enthusiasts, Bryden’s is a local store that sells everything from electric drills, sanders and powertools to screwdrivers, nails and doorknobs. Prices are usually cheaper than DIY chains like Homebase and B&Q and the staff have knowledge and experience of fixing things themselves so are good people to ask for advice. As well as a massive inventory of tools, they stock painting, decorating, cleaning, plumbing and gardening equipment. There’s also a small range of electrical and cooking appliances including from kettles, toasters and BBQs to fire alarms.

Bryden’s D.I.Y is another fantastic example of an old fashioned hardware shop. They have not only a great selection of tools and materials but also all of the things you keep in the utility draw or cupboard under the sink. It can be a little easy to miss, as the front of the shop is so small and a little hidden behind the display of seasonal goods outside. But once within you find yourself marvelling at the floor to ceiling stock of little goodies that you never knew existed and now fell that you really rather need. The folks in here give the impression that they are all very happy in their jobs and as a result the service is as warm and homely as the little cavern of paints and candles its self. All the stock is reasonably prices too, so next time you’re walking past it’s well worth dropping in to see what life enhancing little goodies you can pick up for a pittance.

This place was started nearly 30 years ago and has now expanded into 2 stores which supply the Brighton & Hove area. «stores might not sound a lot but when you consider the big chains such as B & Q and Homebase they have done well to compete for so long. They have D.I.Y equipment for literally any occasion, if they haven’t I will eat my socks! fact! The guys know the store well as it isn’t a massive chain so you will get better advice here then you probably would elsewhere.

Great old school hardware store, good knowledge and service. Tip: get your keys cut here, half the price of Timpsons.
