Once I’ve destroyed my Chinese thrift gene at Laduree across the road, I might as well have a wee glance in here. That’s how my thinking goes! Located near door to The Wolseley, Caviar House continues the high-end brand concept of this row of shops with rows of top-class and top-price products available for purchase or to consume in their little restaurant. Just when you think you’ve seen expensive caviar, your eyes will land on the next grade up and the mind boggles a little more! I’ve tried caviar and while I enjoy the bursts of umami which come with bursting the little balls of roe, the Chinese thrift gene determines that the enjoyment per pound isn’t quite worth it. They also carry other products like foie gras and smoked salmon, which, while not cheap, are a litlte less likely to induce eye-watering! Still, it’s nice to pop in here to see how the other half(or maybe thousandth?) live!
