One of my face places. Love the mix of food, art and culture. It is on the more expensive side. But food is always amazing and portions big also. Love their stew. Banana bread is great for breakfast. The peanut butter slice desert is to die for. There is lots of space.

Had a lovely Americano coffee and a granola bar here chilling out for university work today… Staff friendly as always!!! Reasonably priced and along with a pot of green tea and a delicious cupcake for my friend it all came to £8.25, very reasonable!!! Free car parking at the back of the shop which is handy due to Holywoods busy high street during the day and those pesky traffic wardens…

Ladies who lunch everywhere you look! This Holywood High Street café seems to attract high-class Holywood residents and for good reason. The food is out of this world and the ambiance is even better. Joint on to an art gallery the Yard really is a masterpiece of relaxation. One thing that sets the Yard apart from the huge amount of competition in Holywood is the staff. Firstly there’s always an abundance of them and secondly they are always extremely informative and helpful. Back to the all important food — Don’t expect to get a huge feed at the Yard, it really is a café in its traditional sense. They sell tray-bakes, pastries, French toast and deserts as well as stocking local teas and coffee. There’s a car park out the back of the Yard and you can use the back entrance if you’re parked here.

The Yard in Holywood is a place I would recommend to anyone. The outside can be deceptive but once inside you soon get that nice comfy feeling especially when you sit down at the solid table that doesn’t wobble and experience the comfortable chairs. There is a good choice of menu with something to suite everyone with ordinary dishes being transformed into extraordinarily scrumptious things to eat. I had homemade sausage rolls with homemade baked beans which I have to say was outstanding. It was unanimously decided that we will be back to pay The Yard another visit in the not too distant future.

Well this place certainly was a turn up for the books! We went in a few weeks ago after walking the length of Holywood High Street looking for somewhere to have lunch. We only went in as it had started to rain and the car was now a pretty long way off! But this turned out to be serendipity. What from the outside looked like a pretty standard sized café from the street opened up both out the back and upstairs into a huge a place with a wide variety of seating and food. First off, you’ll notice that the prices are pretty high if you are just nipping in for a quick bite to eat, but, unless you’re feeling the pinch, don’t let that put you off right away. The choice is great and the food itself is second to none. The bagels and sandwiches we got were prepared with the best ingredients you can get, the quality was evident as soon as the food arrived at the table. I’m not sure if its always the case but when we were in, the place was exceptionally busy, and despite being well staffed by friendly and attentive types it did take quite some time for the orders to arrive. We initially just went for lunch but I was soon sent back downstairs to order a few more deserty type things from the counter as they looked to good not to try. I’m glad we did as they too were amazing, I had a very decadent chocolate cake and my wife had a lovely peanut-butter stack thing(which I will be getting next time). The coffee was good too, which is a big plus for me as I hate it when fancy places do the fancy stuff really well and fall down on the basics. All in all its great, but it is hard to overlook the fact that you will have to drop quite a few £££ on a visit!

I used to work right next door to this place and it was always a treat when my boss would nip in next door to get us some scones or a bit of breakfast. She was a top boss and the food was absolutely brilliant, almost perfect if you are a little bit worse for wear. You can get coffee, tea, herbal teas and soft drinks. I can definitely recommend this place for breakfast, even if it is a little bit more pricey. But for the extra you get an excellent level of service and the option to sit in the cool, kinda hip and funky café with plenty of middle aged mums with their rug rats. Being right in the middle of Holywood it can be quite tough to get parked but if you are lucky enough to get a space this can really be a nice wee place to head out for lunch or a spot of brunch.

The industrial ship building yard in Belfast was always known as ‘the Yard’ but this spot is about as far removed as possible from the gritty Belfast of the past. The food at the Yard is modern and funky and totally yum. Even though it’s not licensened, it’s a big favourite of mine for lunch(sacrificing a cold glass of white is a big deal for me!). I also love it for breakfast when even I don’t look for alcohol! Last time I was there I has the daily special which happened to be a pannini with the most juicy roast beef, cheese, caramelised onions and tomato chutney with the added bonus of a salad garnish and a few tortilla chips. I usually pretend not to have a massive appetite and offer my husband some of my lunch but not with this bad boy. Just too good to share. The ready to grab salads are great too and come with wheaten bread and a dinky little pot of dressing. Husband always has the soup which he raves about — last time it was butternut squash and pepper, also with wheaten bread. On that visit I finally came to my senses and realised there was a super convenient car park just out the back — before that I had been too fixated on getting to the food to notice anything beyond the counter. The Yard attracts some very yummy mummies and not too shabby daddies so there’s always lots of air kissing and ‘oh myyy god, how ARE you?‘s going on. Quite entertaining while you eat your haul of goodies. To finish off, I have always wanted to try the towering Peanut Slice dessert. Next time I might just go for it.
