This establishment is a model of how local shops used to be and should continue to be. It is a hardware shop/​Ironmongers that really caters for the local community. The range of goods it stocks is huge and caters for most peoples DIY needs plus cooks, pet lovers, gardeners and many more. The Staff are friendly and helpful and able to answer any queries you may have. Local does not neccessarily mean expensive and Potters pricing is competitive. Nothing seems too much trouble, if you purchased the wrong thing they will change it, and if an item is not in stock they will order it for you ASAP (usually within 24 hours).This is one of those shops that you can go into and browse around without feeling under pressure to buy. They have been in Hockley for over 100 years, so they must be doing it right — putting the customer first.

A lovely old fashioned Ironmongers. The staff are very helpful and if they do not have what you are looking for they will order in for you, with no obligation to buy it. Very helpful with DIY projects and hapy to exchange if you buy the wrong thing (thats happened on many a Saturday morning during a DIY project!). They have recently extended the shop for a larger paint range.
Car park at rear can be a little busy on a Saturday due to limited spaces.

Really good shop, friendly and helpful staff who especially know how to help and treat a woman new to DIY!!!
Don’t be put off by the fact its local and therefore expensive — they are competitive on prices.
Be sure to use their car park at the back — turn first left after mini roundabout and then first left again.

For all your household needs. Personal experience of floor mat, bowl for kitchen sink, rubbish sacks etc.
Have a nice display of Christmas Lights out the front as you drive past. Only drawback is location, on busy road, make sure you use the Zebra crossing out the front to car park on the opposite side of the road.

A really good old fashioned shop which carries everything from paint to calor gas to gardening and housewares to DIY. Most items for the home and kitchen could be found in Potters. Staff are friendly and helpful.
