The Radcliffe

Food was delicious, waiter was chatty and friendly, wine was excellent, very satisfied customer!

I thought this is a pretty good pub… and my brother says it can excellent, so it is well worth giving it a try. On Mondays they have a deal for two starters, two meals and a desert to share, plus a bottle of wine to share for £35 (so £17.50 each).
Good:
— They have a good range of options for the Monday meal deal. They change them regularly according to the season.
— My pork belly was looovely, although the cracking wasn’t very crackly, so was difficult to eat!
— The starters all looked fantastic, especially the breaded camembert
Less good:
— My mum couldn’t eat her salmon because it tasted/​smelled off (!) It was so bad that she didn’t even want to take it home for the cat (!!) She was too embarrassed to complain, and the staff didn’t check if we were enjoying our meal, so she only ate her veggies.
— We ordered desert (as it was part of the deal) but neither the chocolate& raspberry gâteau and the strawberry & prosecco jelly were particularly good.
* They have a sticker on the window to say this pub was recommended in the Michelin guide 2013 BUT my brother said it has gone downhill recently, so maybe they got a new chef. Maybe it’ll get better again once the new chef settles in???

This pub has been refurbished and has a lovely local feel about it. The food is great. There’s also a private room upstairs for hire I went to a training course in there. The staff were very attentive and polite. Highly recommend it. Only downside is few spaces for parking.

The sort of place a footballer wife type might be attracted to for a spot of low brow but pretentiously served and priced food and the usual over priced wines etc.
The rest of us can only mourn the loss of another local boozer.
